Program Description: Goddard Riverside is a well-established Manhattan community-based agency with an annual operating budget of approximately $50 million. Goddard Riverside is one of New York City’s leading human service organizations meeting the basic needs of children, youth and families, homeless people, and older adults across Manhattan and New York City.


Position Summary: The Education and Workforce Development Department is seeking experienced, strategic thinker who is passionate about workforce and youth development a to serve the Advance and Earn Program Director. Reporting to the Director of Education and Workforce Development, the Director is responsible for managing an working with a team to providing program oversight, ensuring that clients have access to a high quality program, build partnerships, and maintaining all contractual obligations. The director will serve as the primary liaison to DYCD; oversee key program staff; be responsible for DYCD administrative deliverables; and lead quality, day-to-day program operations. To support agency priorities, align with best practices, and foster positive outcomes, the director and/or their designated staff member(s) will also be responsible for performance monitoring and program evaluation. They will manage data collection, reporting, performance monitoring, and evaluation activities The program director would support all external evaluation activities with relevant internal and external personnel.


Schedule: Monday through Friday (35 hours per week)


Salary Range: $83,054.40 - $93,436.20


Candidates must have the required qualifications to be considered for the position. The salary offer will be based on the candidate’s number of years experience in the exact or comparable position and additional preferred qualifications will be taken into account.

Role, Responsibilities, and Essential Duties

1. Program Development & Facilitation (40%)

a. Program Oversight & Goal Setting

  • Oversee Advance & Earn program goals from point of entry through completion.
  • Track progress and utilize data to coach and supervise staff in meeting key outcomes. Participant Placement and Retention:
  • Work with the Career and Alumni Services team to maximize participant internship, attendance and post-program placements.
  • In partnership with the Manager of Participant Support, ensure that each participant is receiving high quality case management

2. Talent Management – 20%

a. Team Oversight:

  • Provide oversight of the Advance and Earn teams, ensuring effective coordination and integration of program activities and services.

b. Staff Development:

  • Recruit, train, develop, coach, and retain high-performing team members, including interns.
  • Develop systems for consistent, high-quality project management and evaluation.
  • Facilitate professional development opportunities and sustain a positive team culture.

c. Leadership and Communication:

  • Foster inter-team communication and cohesiveness, supporting staff through organizational growth and change

3. Administrative Responsibilities – 20%

a. Compliance and Reporting:

  • Oversee program compliance with funder requirements and ensure maintenance of all necessary documentation.
  • Ensure all contract-based deliverables are up to date un DYCD Connect, Salesforce, etc.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Education and Workforce and the Operations Director to develop and report on monthly, quarterly, and annual placement and partnership targets

b. Data and Deliverables:

  • Engage with EDW Leadership to manage grants, meet deliverables, collect and analyze data, and prepare reports.

4. General Program Support, Training and Development, and Departmental Initiatives – 20%

a. Collaborate with departmental leadership to plan and implement professional development and teambuilding initiatives

b. Serve as an integral member of the Education and Workforce Development Team under the supervision of the Director of Education and Workforce.

c. Other duties as assigned


Educational Requirements and Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • A bachelor's degree and experience and at least three (5) years of successful and demonstrable relevant experience in program and staff management. Proven understanding of positive youth development, an understanding of out of school, out-of-work (OSOW) youth and workforce development

  • Bi-/Multilingual, Spanish,
