Job Summary 

Lead planning and electric scheduling teams focused on the development and execution of strategic O&M and Capital work plans. Plans are developed that enable predictability, provide an accurate representation of the work in the field, cost to achieve, and addresses long-term goals and strategies of business operations and financial targets across 6 states. Provide strategic technical, financial and functional consultation to operations, Integration Center, and financial teams. Scheduling ensures adherence to compliance requirements and execution of electric operations work plans. Close partnerships must be maintained between key organizations to drive successful outcomes. Establish joint accountability and shared metrics with these key business partners to ensure alignment between organizations. Driving for results, continuous improvement, and strategic thinking will be crucial for success. Provide strong and inclusive leadership in a manner that engages employees, establishes a culture of trust and accountability and creates a strong pipeline of talent.

 Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  •  Partner closely with Directors and VP’s in operations, scheduling, engineering, finance, and other key organizations to ensure work plans and schedules are closely aligned and support maintaining compliance, meet customer needs and achieve business plan objectives
  • Ensure Managers and their teams build strong relationships with operations and each other to create trust so that each are viewed as crucial to achieving successful outcomes
  • Establish strategic direction and effectively communicate expectations to managers
  • Work closely with managers to direct the preparation of plans and deliverables that achieve: work prioritization, flex up / flex down considerations, 5-year, annual and monthly work plans, insourcing and outsourcing analysis, optimization of resources and assets, capacity modeling, shift studies, clarity around variances, clear recommendations, compliance with all government regulations and company policies/procedures, budget goals/targets and other critical aspects of work plans
  • Ensure communication of work plans to operations leaders, Integration Center leadership and financial team leadership that establishes clear understanding of work plan status and variance explanations in terms of work, financial impact, levers, and options.
  • Understand linkage between operations and capital work, scheduling, and financial/budget as it relates to decisions and cause/effect relationships that can result from decisions in any of those areas
  • Ensure identification and implementation of best practices for planning and scheduling
  • Keep abreast of business and market trends that may affect the business/department.
  • Drive expectation of consistency in work planning and scheduling processes in support of one NiSource
  • Role will assist with Emergency Response capabilities and leadership within the Incident Command System as part of the responsibilities
  • Create a culture where people feel valued and have an opportunity to grow and develop

 

Required Qualifications for Position 

  • Bachelors’ degree in Engineering, Accounting, Finance, Business Management or equivalent professional work experience
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership experience in: work planning, operations, finance, or scheduling
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate closely with key stakeholders to drive successful outcomes
  • Comfort with leading in and navigating through ambiguous and stressful situations
  • Knowledge of planning, operations, and/or scheduling processes
  • Ability to grasp technical explanations of operations scenarios, draw accurate conclusions, and discuss in financial and regulatory terms
  • Demonstrated ability to drive strategic team alignment and execution.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively explore alternatives and positions to reach outcomes that gain the support and acceptance of all parties
  • Strong knowledge of operations budgeting process and systems
  • Demonstrated sense of urgency in executing deliverables and responding to stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications for Position 

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or Finance (or equivalent relatable work experience) 
  • Diverse background that brings experience of having worked across multiple areas of the following: work planning, field or construction operations, finance, and scheduling
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership of people experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of field operations, operations scheduling or operations planning experience
  • Established relationships across operations, scheduling and finance organizations

Salary Range:

$150,900.00 - $226,300.00
