What does the role involve? 

Reporting to the National Diocesan Director Manager, you will be responsible for bringing the vision and mission of Caritas Australia to life across the diocese. Appointed in partnership with the Archbishop, this role is highly relational, outward-facing and purpose-driven, working closely with schools, parishes and the wider Catholic community to inspire action for justice and compassion.

Key responsibilities will include (but not limited to):

  • Leading diocesan engagement in Caritas Australia’s mission through education, advocacy, fundraising and ecological justice initiatives.
  • Building strong relationships with Catholic schools, parishes and volunteers, including developing and supporting a network of parish representatives.
  • Designing and delivering engaging presentations, workshops and events (such as Project Compassion launches) across the diocese.
  • Representing Caritas Australia at diocesan events and collaborating with internal teams to support fundraising, communications and supporter engagement.

This role is based in Wagga Wagga, NSW, and involves working approximately 3.75 hours per week.


Who are we looking for? 

The successful candidate will be a purpose driven professional who is committed to their faith and to the mission of Caritas Australia - to end poverty and injustice by promoting human dignity for all. They will have a mix of the following qualifications, skills and experience:    

  • A tertiary qualification in Education, Theology, Community Engagement or Communications, or equivalent experience delivering faith-based workshops, professional learning, or community engagement initiatives.
  • Proven experience collaborating with diocesan authorities, parishes, schools, agencies, or wider communities to promote social and ecological justice grounded in Catholic Social Teaching.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and the ability to manage multiple projects and events effectively.

Skills Required
