What You’ll Be Doing
You will be joining CIBC’s Infrastructure Technology team. As a Digital Transformation Lead Engineer you will bring experience specifically in working with Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, and Google Cloud Platform. This role is for you if you are passionate about building innovative solutions with new challenges and technologies while making an impact.
As a Digital Transformation Lead Engineer you will be responsible for providing technical recommendations and subject matter expertise to ensure stable, reliable production and non-production environments for complex sharing initiatives in compliance with established controls, standards, policies, and procedures. In this role, you will collaborate with and act as an advisor to the senior management, utilizing a solid understanding of business dynamics to analyze and protect production and non-production environment integrity and mitigate risks, present and recommend solutions using available resources for complex initiatives with key dependencies. You will provide technical leadership, interpreting complex information and coordinating client, provider, and vendor relationships to meet and manage service expectations, aligned to best practices. In addition, you will also participate in the development of the team to maximize individual contributions and professional growth, functioning effectively with colleagues.

How You’ll Succeed

Leadership & Communication:

Provide technical leadership during the design, develop, configuration, implementation and maintenance phases of major public and private Cloud technologies and automation tooling in a multi-platform environment.

Lead the evaluation, selection and implementation of new and emerging products and techniques; support the development of business/technology proposals by estimating implementation costs and evaluating options.

Collaborate with senior leaders across the company and make informed recommendations to enhance Cloud related offering & solutions. Weigh business needs against technology of offerings, security concerns and provide recommendations which are practical and achievable.

Governance:

Proactively contribute to governance initiatives in the development of company policies, audit requirements etc. Provide technical or business guidance to clients within and outside your own department.

Engineering:
-
Provide automation expertise within core automation DevOps tool chain and orchestration expertise in Provisioning and Public Cloud.
-
Determine standards and roadmaps for hardware and software. Decide how infrastructure is built and recommends Cloud-based standards for organization wide initiatives based on area of expertise.

Conduct major studies regarding system usage, make recommendations for improvements, and determine infrastructure system requirements.
-
Design, develop and test emerging Cloud-based software solutions.
-
Provide ongoing analysis and evaluation of test plan, all additions and changes to ensure they are introduced in a manner that protects the integrity of the environment and mitigates risks.

Provide in-depth subject matter expertise to perform broad impact analysis, present alternative solutions, and make recommendations for complex initiatives and projects.

Work with the Enterprise Architecture team on identifying requirements and design for continuous evolution of Cloud-based solutions.

Manage clients, providers and vendor relationships to ensure service expectations are understood, managed and met.

Support both production and non-production Cloud platform environments and hosted applications.

Implement production and non-production changes to Cloud platforms and applications following established change management policies.

Who You Are
-
You can demonstrate 15+ years' experience in design, develop, implement and support of technical innovation & technology-based solutions on Cloud platforms.
-
You have strong experience or knowledge with:
-
Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services or Google Cloud Platform.
-
IBM Cognos, Sybase, Oracle, Tableau, MongoDB, IMS DB, SQL, MySQL, Microsoft PowerBI and Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power Agent, Power Page, Dataverse).
-
Microsoft's Azure, ARM Templating, Azure DevOps Pipeline implementation of “infrastructure as code” deliveries, Role Based Access Control (RBAC), and monitoring/hardening/policing/templating/delivery of AWS and Azure Services will be essential.
-
AWS, multi-account Organizations, Control Tower, Cloud Formation implementation of “infrastructure as code”, as well as delivery of other AWS Services will be key to your success.
-
Proficiency with Python, Bicep, JSON and PowerShell scripting.
-
IaaS, PaaS, SaaS, and network and security related solutions is required.
-
Proficient with tools such as ServiceNow, GitHub, JIRA, Confluence, and have expertise in Continuous Integration (CI)/ Continuous Delivery (CD).
-
Understanding of Waterfall and Agile delivery methodologies, terminologies and ceremonies.

Windows Server, Linux/Unix and Middleware tier.

Azure Firewalls, ExpressRoute & IPSec Tunnels, Virtual WAN, WAF, Network Security Groups (NSG) and other network and security components of Azure will be valuable.

Knowledge of the existing and planned software technology and the global, regional and local software architecture and infrastructure components.

Familiarity with hardware technology and the global, regional and local hardware architecture.

Knowledge of approaches, tools and techniques for anticipating, recognizing, and resolving technical (hardware, software, application or operational) problems.

Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques and roles and responsibilities in providing technical or business guidance to clients within and outside own area.

Knowledge of the data center operating environment and day-to-day operational requirements.
-
It is an asset if you have AWS, Microsoft Azure, and GCP certifications, as well as ITIL certifications would be considered as assets.
