POSITION SUMMARY:
The Digital Systems Technician supports the design, assembly, testing, and validation of marine digital systems across White River Marine Group’s product lines. This role assists in building and maintaining prototype and production-ready electronic systems used in vessel instrumentation, controls, and displays. The technician will work closely with design engineers, software suppliers, and manufacturing personnel to ensure high-quality, functional, and reliable digital systems that meet brand and customer expectations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assists in the setup, wiring, and configuration of digital control systems, displays, and marine network components.
- Builds and maintains tabletop test boards and prototype harnesses to support system testing and validation.
- Supports digital systems integration and verification on vessels prior to production release.
- Conducts preliminary software validation and reports functionality issues or anomalies to the engineering team.
- Helps document test results, wiring diagrams, and troubleshooting procedures for production reference.
- Collaborates with suppliers and internal engineering teams to gather data and support software updates or revisions.
- Maintains lab tools, testing equipment, and digital components inventory

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Degree Required: Associate Degree
- Preferred Degree: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Computer Engineering Technology, or related field.
- Years of experience: 0–2 years; prior internship or co-op experience in marine, automotive, or electronic systems preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:
- Basic understanding of CAN Bus, NMEA 2000, or similar digital communication systems.
- Familiarity with electrical testing tools (multimeters, oscilloscopes, diagnostic software).
- Working knowledge of digital display operation and GUI functionality preferred.
- Ability to interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- CAD experience (2D/3D) beneficial but not required (AutoCAD, CATIA).
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills; comfortable working in lab and manufacturing environments.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
- Occasional travel (<10%) for testing or training at manufacturing facilities or supplier sites.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Regularly sits and does computer work.
Occasionally walks, standing, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
Additional Physical Requirements
- May involve working on boats, bending, or reaching into confined areas during system installation or troubleshooting.
INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:
Performs tasks and duties under general supervision, using established procedures and innovation. Chooses from limited alternatives to resolve problems. Occasional independent judgment is required to complete work assignments. Often makes recommendations to work procedures, policies, and practices.
