Job Description

Ameriprise Financial has an exciting opportunity for a Digital Product Owner to join our team. In this role, you will lead product vision and strategy for a digital product or experience, acting as the voice of the customer while driving discovery, alignment, and measurable business outcomes. This role emphasizes early-stage problem definition, customer insights, and strategic thinking, in close partnership with design, engineering, and business stakeholders.
You will balance strategic leadership with agile execution, ensuring the team is working on the highest value problems and that solutions align to broader business and customer goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead product vision and strategy by deeply understanding customer needs, business objectives, and market opportunities; translate insights into a clear, outcome‑driven digital roadmap.

  • Own and evolve personas, user journeys, value propositions, and success metrics, ensuring the team remains anchored in customer-centric problem solving.

  • Drive product discovery activities in partnership with UX and business stakeholders, including opportunity identification, hypothesis definition, and validation of solutions before delivery.

  • Partner closely with UX Design and Engineering Leads to define roadmap priorities, shape the backlog, and provide context for why work matters—not just what is being built.

  • Represent the product to the business as the primary point of contact, facilitating alignment on priorities, tradeoffs, and sequencing to maximize impact.

  • Define and track KPIs and measurable outcomes, regularly sharing insights and progress with stakeholders and leadership.

  • Identify new opportunities to deepen customer relationships and deliver value through continuous assessment of customer behavior, feedback, analytics, and qualitative research.

  • Provide day‑to‑day leadership for one or more Agile Scrum teams, influencing without authority and ensuring clarity of vision throughout execution.

  • Partner with senior product leadership on strategic planning, investment decisions, and annual budgeting, adjusting strategy as learnings evolve.

  • Foster strong cross‑functional relationships with UX, Engineering, Analytics, Compliance, Security, and business partners to ensure scalable, high‑quality digital solutions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

  • 5–7 years of product management or product owner experience, with at least 3 years in an agile, software‑based environment.

  • Proven ability to lead product discovery and strategy, not just delivery.

  • Strong experience translating business strategy and customer insights into clear product direction and roadmaps.

  • Demonstrated success influencing cross‑functional partners (design, engineering, business) without direct authority.

  • Experience using qualitative and quantitative data (analytics, research findings, customer feedback) to inform product decisions.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate vision, tradeoffs, and outcomes.

  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills across multiple initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on digital products within financial services or another highly regulated industry.

  • Strong partnership experience with UX research and design teams.

  • Background or certification in Agile frameworks (CSPO, SAFe PO/PM, Scrum Master).

  • Proven ability to facilitate visioning, discovery, and alignment workshops.

  • Experience with product discovery, roadmapping, and backlog tools (e.g., Jira, Productboard, Confluence).

In-Office Collaboration

We are a client-centric, relationship-based business. Working together, in-person, is foundational to how we achieve results. By fostering a culture of face-to-face collaboration, idea sharing, productivity and personal connection, we deliver for our stakeholders — clients, advisors, employees and shareholders. Our employees work in the office at least four (4) days per week, with flexibility to work from home one (1) day per week. Some roles may require additional in-office time or different in-office expectations, and specific requirements will be discussed during the hiring process.

Visa Sponsorship

Applicants must have a valid work authorization that does not now, or in the future, require visa sponsorship for employment in the United States (e.g., H-1B, F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, TN).

Base Pay Salary

The estimated base salary for this role is $100,000 - $137,600 / year. We have a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy. Your initial total compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location. In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives depending on the role. We also have a competitive and comprehensive benefits program that supports all aspects of your health and well-being, including but not limited to vacation time, sick time, 401(k), and health, dental and life insurances.
