The Role

The Manufacturing IT Application Analyst – Senior provides application and infrastructure technical expertise, analysis, and specifications for IT systems to meet business requirements in accordance with Cummins IT architecture policies and standards. This role translates requirements into technical specifications, creates detailed solution designs, and coordinates the construction, installation, configuration, and testing of IT systems. The analyst will also identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues while supporting manufacturing-focused digital solutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Translate business requirements into detailed technical specifications and solution designs.
  • Conduct technical analysis of potential solutions, including commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products versus custom-built solutions.
  • Deliver solution designs adhering to Cummins architecture, security, and performance standards while ensuring scalability and maintainability.
  • Develop infrastructure or application components including interfaces, conversions, reports, and workflows.
  • Collaborate with IT technical service providers and ensure outsourced work packages are delivered on time, within cost, and to required quality standards.
  • Participate in design and code reviews, ensuring compliance with standards and technical specifications.
  • Leverage reusable components and automation to reduce costs and improve efficiency in build and deployment processes.
  • Assist in test strategy development, execution of master test plans, and solution validation testing.
  • Contribute to the creation of IT standards, processes, procedures, and end-user runbooks.
  • Analyze and revise existing systems to improve functionality, performance, and maintainability.
  • Provide Level 3 support for critical system issues impacting manufacturing IT systems.

QualificationsRequired Qualifications, Skills, and ExperienceCore Skills & Knowledge
  • Minimum 3 years of IT experience focused on system development and analysis.
  • Proficiency in Python, Machine Learning, Ignition, and Plotly-Dash.
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft utilities such as Azure Cloud, Power BI, and PowerApps.
  • Strong technical expertise in interactive dashboard development and data visualization.
  • Understanding of manufacturing data flows, system architecture, and cloud-based deployment.
  • Knowledge of API development and secure data exchange.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Educational or professional background in manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with PLC, OPC-UA, and HMI systems.
  • Exposure to Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies.
Education, Licenses, Certifications
  • College, university, or equivalent degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
