The Opportunity:
P&G has an exciting opportunity for a Digital Innovation Engineer to develop cutting-edge digital tools and capabilities, transforming how our perfumers create for our Fabric, Home, and Beauty Care businesses. This role sits within our Corporate Perfume Digital R&D department, enabling you to be at the leading edge of blending scientific expertise with advanced software development to bring innovative fragrances to life. As an Engineer in our Perfume R&D department, you will be part of a dynamic, global team committed to delivering innovative solutions. Your role will involve partnering closely with perfumers and scientists, designing integrated digital architectures, and collaborating effectively across diverse internal and external teams to drive the future of perfumery in P&G.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong eagerness to learn and grow professionally and possess excellent communication skills—both written and verbal with the ability to communicate with technical and non-technical teams (e.g. perfumers). Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with Perfumers and Olfactive Scientists to build innovative digital tools, enabling faster and better in-house perfume creation across P&G's Fabric, Home, and Beauty Care businesses.
- Design and develop the optimum digital architecture for the Perfume Design Suite, ensuring seamless integration with P&G R&D systems (e.g., PS, GPS) and external platforms.
- Lead cross-functional Collaboration globally with corporate functions (e.g., Modeling & Simulation) and platform R&D teams (e.g., Fabric & Home Care, Beauty Care) to leverage collective expertise.
- Engineer robust software Solutions applying strong software engineering principles to develop, test, and deploy high-quality, scalable, and user-friendly applications tailored for R&D.
- Translate perfume and product development science into digital solutions utilizing scientific background to analyze fragrance data, optimize formulations, and digitally represent olfactive science.
Job Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Education Requirement: Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant engineering/scientific discipline. Dual-discipline background (e.g., Chemical/Biomedical Engineering with Computer Science, Data Science, or Software Engineering) is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in a modern programming language (e.g., Python, C#, Java).
- Experience with web development (front-end and/or back-end frameworks).
- Familiarity with database technologies (SQL/NoSQL).
- Understanding of data structures and software design principles.
- Available to work in person at our Ivorydale Innovation Center in Cincinnati OH.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with applying Machine Learning, Data Science, Generative AI and Large Language Modeling (LLM) to real-world problems.
- Familiarity with DevOps environments, including tools like GitHub.
- Publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
