We’re Looking For A(n): Digital Imaging Technician

Location: Hybrid (El Segundo, CA and/or Burbank/North Hollywood, CA)

What You’ll Be Doing:

The Digital Imaging Technician (DIT) is the primary owner of image integrity and media workflow from pre-production through delivery to post-production. This role is embedded within the Production team and operates on set, where early technical and creative decisions have the greatest impact on downstream efficiency, image quality, and post-production timelines.

The DIT works in close partnership with Post Production to ensure footage is delivered cleanly, consistently, and in alignment with editorial needs. By identifying and resolving issues at the point of capture, the DIT protects post workflows, reduces rework, and ensures creative intent is preserved from shoot through final delivery.

Pre-Production & Production Planning

  • Partner with Production, DPs, and Camera teams during prep to align on technical approach, camera settings, and image standards
  • Support lighting and camera planning by advising on exposure, color temperature, and monitoring considerations
  • Align with Post Production in advance on delivery specs, codecs, and workflow requirements
  • Help anticipate technical risks and propose solutions before shoots begin

On-Set Image & Workflow Ownership

  • Be physically present on set for all assigned shoots
  • Monitor image quality in real time to ensure consistent exposure, color, frame rate, and camera settings across setups and cameras
  • Manage calibrated on-set monitors so creative decisions accurately reflect final output
  • Maintain visual continuity across scenes, shoot days, and camera systems
  • Communicate clearly with Production, Camera, and Lighting teams to resolve issues quickly without disrupting set flow

Workflow Automation & Pipeline Ownership

  • Own and continuously improve the production-to-post handoff pipeline to ensure footage, metadata, and project files arrive in a state that is immediately usable by editors and creatives
  • Design and maintain organized, standardized file structures, naming conventions, and metadata practices that enable downstream automation
  • Partner with Production and Post to identify opportunities to automate repetitive processes such as file routing, project setup, Jira ticket creation, tracking grids, and delivery notifications
  • Ensure all media and associated assets are prepared in a consistent, automation-ready state to accelerate editorial start times and reduce manual intervention
  • Help develop scalable workflows that support increased production volume without increasing post-production overhead

Media Management & Processing

  • Ingest, back up, and verify footage on set using established redundancy and security standards
  • Organize media using clear, consistent folder structures and naming conventions
  • Process and transcode footage as required for post-production workflows
  • Maintain accurate metadata, labeling, and documentation
  • Deliver organized, post-ready media packages on schedule

Color & Image Preparation

  • Serve as the primary owner of color correction and image normalization from capture through delivery to post-production
  • Establish and maintain the project’s core color approach, including exposure balance, white balance, contrast, and tonal consistency
  • Create, apply, and manage show LUTs to ensure a consistent visual baseline across cameras, setups, and shoot days
  • Perform hands-on color correction as part of the on-set and post-prep workflow
    • Save, version, and distribute LUTs and color references so that other team members can assist when needed without compromising visual consistency
    • Ensure all footage delivered to post reflects approved color standards and creative intent
    • Identify and correct color-related issues early, escalating only when necessary
    • Partner with Post Production to align on color expectations and ensure downstream efficiency

Qualifications (Note: We strongly encourage you to apply even if you don’t tick ALL of these boxes.):

  • Demonstrated experience as a DIT, Assistant DIT, or similar role in a professional production environment
  • Strong understanding of camera systems, codecs, frame rates, color spaces, and file formats
  • Hands-on experience with media ingestion, backups, transcoding, and delivery
  • Working knowledge of color correction principles and tools
  • Comfortable operating independently in fast-paced, on-set environments
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive in problem-solving
  • Strong communication skills across production and post teams
  • Experience working across mixed camera formats and multi-camera shoots
  • Familiarity with fast-turnaround or same-day post workflows
  • Strong technical aptitude and interest in workflow systems, automation, and process improvement
  • Prior experience partnering closely with editorial or post-production teams
  • Interest in building and refining scalable production systems
  • Required Education: Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience
  • Required Experience: 1-2 years of experience of on set film production
  • Preferred Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Film Production or related fields
  • Preferred Experience: 2+ years preferred
