Job Summary/Description:

Live 5 is looking for a leader who is ready to define the future of digital content in Charleston. This is your chance to inspire a talented team, drive innovation across every screen, and truly own the conversation in a vibrant, historic city, all while keeping Live 5 at the forefront of local media. We're seeking a Digital Content Manager who doesn't just keep pace with digital trends but sets them—someone who can strategize and execute with both precision and compassion, elevating our brand and connecting deeply with our community.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

- Elevate our digital content team: Guide strategy to supercharge growth in digital, social, and streaming audiences and engagement, making sure Live 5 is everywhere our community is.
- Architect seamless workflows: Craft and implement processes that deliver compelling content 24/7, optimized for every platform, from broadcast to vertical video.
- Champion visual storytelling: Drive the creation of vertical videos and innovative formats that resonate deeply and expand our reach.
- Decipher the data: Dive into analytics and metrics daily to inform editorial decisions, refine strategies, and continuously grow our impact.
- Forge cross-platform unity: Actively partner with our News Director and station leaders to weave a cohesive, compelling narrative across all channels.
- Oversee our social universe: Mastermind our presence across Facebook, X, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and new emerging platforms, ensuring our voice is strong and consistent.
- Innovate new content frontiers: Lead the team in discovering and deploying cutting-edge content types and technology to engage diverse and untapped audiences.
- Create viral-worthy local content: Generate unique, engaging, and highly shareable local stories that truly matter to Charleston.
- Mentor future media stars: Coach and develop our content team in best practices for journalistic ethics, razor-sharp writing, and powerful SEO strategies.
- Uphold our editorial bedrock: Ensure all content reflects Live 5's brand with unwavering consistency in style, quality, and tone, maintaining the highest ethical and editorial standards.
- Command breaking news digitally: Lead the swift and accurate online response during breaking news, coordinating push alerts, live streams, and social updates with the newsroom.
- Synchronize content flow: Manage content calendars, ensuring timely delivery and strategic deployment, especially during high-stakes breaking news and weather events.

Qualifications/Requirements:

- 3-5+ years of hands-on digital news leadership experience—you've been in the trenches, and you've led the charge.
- A Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, or equivalent experience that speaks louder than a diploma.
- A proven track record of digital innovation and measurable audience growth.
- Unshakeable journalistic judgment and a news philosophy that prioritizes accuracy, fairness, and truly unique local storytelling.
- The ability to stay calm, cool, and collected during live, breaking news situations, making smart decisions under pressure.
- An eagle eye for detail, exceptional journalism writing skills, and AP style proficiency (because words matter).
- Deep experience analyzing data, spotting behavioral trends, and transforming insights into actionable strategies.
- Flexibility with your schedule and a willingness to be part of a weekend on-call manager rotation—news never sleeps!
- A collaborative spirit, impeccable organization, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities like a pro.
- You're a confident leader who's still hungry to learn, someone who elevates standards with kindness and leads by undeniable example.
