DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

The Corporate & Investor Relations (CIR) department is BCI’s face and voice. It leads engagement with the corporation’s internal and external audiences and manages the enterprise’s brand and reputation, in addition to being the primary interface with BCI’s clients.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Digital Communication Specialist reports to the Manager, Corporate & Brand Communications (C&BC) and contributes to the advancement of BCI’s digital communication program, which includes the public-facing website and BCI’s corporate LinkedIn profile.

The Digital Communication Specialist will create compelling digital content and campaigns to support BCI’s profile as a leading global investor and expand the reach of BCI’s communication program through its external-facing digital channels. Responsibilities include creating, writing, and editing digital content for the corporate website and LinkedIn and developing communication plans for these channels. The individual will leverage analytics/analyze metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of digital communications and contribute to the creation of world-class brand campaigns that further BCI’s goals.

Additionally, the individual will have knowledge of content management platforms and experience with website architecture. They will also collaborate with partners on website design and delivery of the user experience informed by best practices.

The Digital Communication Specialist operates within the C&BC team, which is mandated with developing integrated communications strategies and brand programs to increase awareness among target external audiences, as well as cultivating trust and credibility through key relationships. C&BC leads enterprise-wide media relations, BCI.ca and LinkedIn content strategies, and corporate publications including the annual report, transaction announcements, asset class profile-building, BCI’s brand narrative, as well as community engagement. The Communication Specialist works in collaboration with subject matter experts from across BCI and interacts with external service providers and contractors.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • A bachelor’s degree or diploma in communications, marketing, digital media, English, or a related area of study.

  • Four to six years of experience in digital communications including content planning and creation, content marketing and optimizing campaign performance through data analysis in either a corporate or agency setting.

  • Experience within an institutional investment management and/or financial services organization is an asset.

  • Accreditations with the International Association of Business Communicators or the Canadian Public Relations Society are an asset.

SKILLS

  • Experience and working knowledge of digital communications, and analytics tools with the ability to interpret performance data and craft reports with actionable recommendations, as well as information architecture, wire-framing, and user experience.

  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of digital communication content development and platforms as well as their respective participants.

  • Superior digital writing skills.

  • Experience creating engaging video and audio content.

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite, web-based applications (Figma, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite), and content management systems (WordPress etc.).

  • Organized self-starter with excellent time and project management skills, enabling effective prioritization of tasks to support multiple projects.

WHAT YOU GET TO DO

Website planning and content development

  • Works with the Manager, C&BC, to develop and implement a website content strategy for BCI.ca, addressing the latest trends, content gaps and audience preferences, as well as improving search engine optimization alignment with the current strategic objectives of BCI’s corporate and brand communications program.

  • Develops engaging web content and ensures materials are current, accurate and aligned with BCI’s visual brand and editorial standards, as well as working with the legal and compliance team to obtain approvals as needed.

  • Oversees the editorial calendar for BCI.ca.

  • Collaborates with internal and external partners on the conceptualization, implementation, and introduction of new web pages, hubs and /or tools for the website in accordance with best practices for information architecture and user experience.

  • Liaises with internal partners and/or external vendor(s) supporting BCI’s website for information architecture, user experience, or functionality updates.

  • Partners with the Manager, C&BC on the maintenance of website governance documentation.

Website performance monitoring and data analysis

  • Uses analytical tools (Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager, Google Search Console, Search Engine Optimization reports, and PowerBI dashboard) to monitor and evaluate BCI’s website performance and digital content campaigns.

  • Prepares reports and recommends actions to improve future content performance.

Social media planning and content creation

  • Works with the C&BC manager to develop and implement a social media plan that is aligned with BCI’s corporate and brand communications program.

  • Develops and implements creative and meaningful LinkedIn campaigns that meet business goals and objectives using various formats - posts, boosted posts, sponsored content, videos, podcasts, etc. and aligned with BCI’s visual brand and editorial standards.

  • Oversees the LinkedIn editorial calendar and is responsible for posting LinkedIn content.

  • Identifies and assesses emerging social media trends and makes recommendations for the integration into BCI’s social media content.

  • Stays current on LinkedIn algorithm changes affecting content and adapts campaign implementation as needed.

  • Partners with the Manager, C&BC on the maintenance of LinkedIn governance documentation.

Social media performance monitoring and data analysis

  • Uses analytical tools (LinkedIn Insights and PowerBI dashboard) to monitor and evaluate BCI’s digital content campaigns.

  • Prepares reports and recommends actions to improve future content performance.

WHERE YOU WILL WORK 

Work from our downtown Victoria office; relocation support is available if needed.

SALARY RANGE 

BCI offers a competitive total rewards package which includes a performance-based incentive plan, comprehensive health & dental benefits, a defined benefit pension plan and paid time off.

The annualized base salary range for this Victoria-based role is CAD $87,000 to $105,000. The base salary offered to the successful candidate will consider a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill set, level of experience applicable to the role they are being offered and consideration to internal equity.

We pay our people competitively in the markets in which we compete for talent and with consideration to internal equity and job structure. We aim for actual pay to be around the median of the market for target or expected levels of performance, and around the upper quartile of the market for excellent performance.

Actual salaries may vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, including, but not limited to, experience and expertise.
