MIRACORP is seeking a part-time Digital Communications Specialist to support communications, content development, and digital engagement efforts. The ideal candidate combines strong writing and storytelling skills with a working knowledge of defense acquisition, workforce development, and digital communications analytics.

This position will help translate complex acquisition policies, training resources, and workforce initiatives into engaging content for WarU.edu, WarU’s SharePoint site, social media platforms, email newsletters, and other strategic communication channels.

Essential Functions

  • Write, edit, and proofread articles, feature stories, interviews, news briefs, newsletters, social media posts, email campaigns, executive communications, and promotional materials.
  • Translate complex defense acquisition policies, training resources, and workforce initiatives into clear, engaging, plain-language content.
  • Develop content supporting acquisition reform, workforce development, contracting, program management, systems engineering, logistics, and emerging technologies.
  • Interview subject matter experts, faculty members, and senior leaders to develop accurate and mission-focused communications.
  • Create, publish, update, and maintain content across WarU.edu, SharePoint, social media, email, and other communication platforms.
  • Tailor messaging, headlines, graphics recommendations, and calls to action for specific audiences and communication channels.
  • Ensure content complies with AP style, government publishing standards, organizational style guides, web standards, and accessibility requirements.
  • Maintain editorial consistency, accuracy, quality, and brand alignment across all communications.
  • Review communication and engagement data to recommend improvements to content effectiveness, user experience, and channel strategy.
  • Assist with editorial calendar planning, content management, and strategic communications campaigns.
  • Research defense acquisition trends, policy developments, workforce issues, and emerging technologies to support timely content development.
  • Develop recommendations to increase awareness, engagement, and adoption of WarU learning assets and resources.
  • Manage multiple content projects, priorities, and deadlines while coordinating with internal stakeholders.
  • Use Microsoft 365 and other approved digital and AI tools to support research, content development, collaboration, and publishing.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • US Citizen
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public affairs, marketing, English, political science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Experience writing for digital audiences.
  • Experience writing content using AP and government publishing standards.
  • Ability to maintain consistency, clarity, and plain-language communications across multiple platforms.
  • Familiarity with U.S. Department of War, federal acquisition, government contracting, or related fields.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Strong interviewing and research skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools, including Word, Teams, PowerPoint, and SharePoint

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Defense Acquisition Workforce roles, policies, and terminology.
  • Experience working with government agencies, military organizations, or federally funded programs.
  • Experience using AI tools to enhance content development and research.
