How you'll contribute
A Dietary Manager who excels in this role:
- Oversees standards and procedures for food preparation, menu development, service, equipment, sanitation, infection control, and employee safety.
- Ensures the quality of menus, food, and service.
- Prepares and orders food and supplies and ensures accurate and sufficient inventory levels.
- Ensures the facility remains compliant with all health department, The Joint Commission (TJC), state, and federal regulations.
- Works flexible hours as required.
- Maintains the rotating menu according to established dietary and food cost guidelines and collaborates with Registered Dietitians to accommodate specific patient needs.
- Stores and rotates food and consumable products according to health department and hospital guidelines and ensures all food is properly labeled and dated in accordance with established food safety guidelines.
- Maintains accurate HACCP programs and monitors food temperatures from delivery through consumption.
- Ensures the department follows sanitation and food safety guidelines and appropriate food-handling procedures, including the proper use of serving utensils and gloves.
- Orders supplies within established budget guidelines.
- Ensures meals are prepared according to the menu cycle and daily production sheet, with attention to the appearance and taste of meals; maintains appropriate portion control and manages over- and under-production.
- Interacts with patients and staff in the serving line, assists with the selection and service of nutritionally balanced meals, and serves as a role model for customer service.
- Personally assists with cleaning and ensures staff accurately follows all posted cleaning schedules and procedures to maintain a clean and safe work area and dining room at all times.
- Ensures equipment is properly maintained and clean.
- Creates dietary staff schedules based on hospital census and rotates weekend assignments among all staff, including themselves.
- Ensures the dietary team prepares snacks and nourishments according to patient food preferences and physician orders.
- Follows safety, infection control, and emergency procedures in accordance with facility policies and procedures.
- Coaches and trains staff.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What we’re looking for
Education:
- High school diploma, GED or combination of education and relevant work experience preferred.
Licenses/Certifications:
- Valid driver’s license and a favorable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR), along with proof of insurance when using own auto.
- Food Safety/Sanitation certification preferred.
Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience in business development at psychiatric healthcare facility preferred
