Job Responsibilities:
The Die Setter is responsible for their safety as well as other Team Members' safety and well-being, overall development and support of other Team Members, health and safety, quality, customer cost, productivity, and ergonomic issues through using the company policies and procedures and the Magna Employee's Charter as a guideline.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITIONS:
Follow and enforce all plant safety rules and policies. Follow and comply with all operational procedures/policies as stated in the employee Environmental Health and Safety programs and conduct Team Safety Talks as required.
Follows and supports and Magna's operating principles, including:

Abide by Kamtek policies and procedures as described in the most current version of the Employee Handbook.
Open Door Policy - Solves issues with two-way, open and friendly communication.
5S - Maintains and promotes good housekeeping by following the philosophy "Everything has a place. Everything in its place".
Safety First - Obey the plant's safety rules and procedures by wearing PPE at all times and immediately addressing all safety concerns. Promotes an environment where zero injuries are the expected standard.

Attend and participate in Team, Department, Plant-wide and any other meetings as required.

Support team in efficient and effective processes to support expeditious flow of NCM material Support of Team in achieving business goals and objectives - Flip die
  • Must be able to support with tooling crane to remove upper dies and be able to flip them in a safe manner with no support (other than a spotter).

- New die setup.
  • Must have the ability to set new dies on the line without assistance. This includes knowing what keys to use for accurate set up. If keys or guiding is not already on the tool or not sufficient, must be able to direct tooling on what to modify on the die.

- Timing- Must be able to set lines within the standard time.
  • Tandem-90min
  • Prog/Transfer- 45min

- Die labeling champion
  • Responsible to ensure new and current production dies are labelled properly. (J#, flow direction, QDC pin hole placement, etc.)

- Off standard / Technical support.
  • Support contractors, maintenance, tooling during equipment installation etc.

Follow work instructions to insure TS16949 and ISO 14000-01 standards are being met. Must be able to work with little supervision and be a self-starter. Promote good housekeeping. Perform other duties as required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Some of the physical demands for this position include being able to lift up to a weight of 40 pounds and the ability to stand, sit, and walk for prolonged periods of time.
EQUIPMENT / TOOLS USED
Some of the equipment and tools used are a computer, printer, telephone, photocopier, fax
machine, PPE and an assortment of metrology tools.
EDUCATION:
  • High School Diploma or GED required;
  • One to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

TECHNICAL TRAINING: GD& T, Weld Standards, Manufacturing Practices, SPC
OTHER: Computer skills; proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of precision measuring tools including tape measures, scales, Vernier calipers, etc.
  • Metal Finish experience a plus.
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook Express.
  • PDCA/8D/5 why knowledge a plus.
