As a Diagnostic Technologies Software Engineer (DTSE), you will be a key member of the Service Systems and Architecture team within the Ford Customer Service Division (FCSD). Your primary mission is to develop high-quality diagnostic software and libraries to be integrated into Ford’s global diagnostic products. You will join a high-impact organization spanning Business Systems and Global Diagnostics & Repair Solutions to drive innovation in the vehicle service domain.
The goal of this role is to produce software that not only meets formal requirements but anticipates unspoken needs through a rich understanding of vehicle diagnostics. You will be responsible for ensuring that our diagnostic tools provide a seamless, efficient experience for technicians and service engineering operations worldwide.

Software Development & Engineering
Lead the development of the Common Authoring Repair Scripts (CARS) runtime. You will be responsible for writing clean, maintainable code to be used in Ford DiagNow, FDRS, and next-generation diagnostic tools. Your primary focus will be on JavaScript development, with a strong emphasis on integrating Java and C# components where required.
Agile Delivery & Project Management:
Execute software development tasks within a fast-paced Agile environment. You will manage your workflow through JIRA, participating in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives to ensure timely delivery of high-quality software increments.
Innovation & Solution Design:
Drive the architectural evolution of diagnostic products. You will move beyond "coding to specs" by developing a deep domain expertise in vehicle diagnostics, allowing you to design solutions that proactively solve complex repair challenges. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams in Service Engineering and Operations to ensure software alignment with global repair strategies.
QualificationsEducation:
Bachelor of Science or Engineering in Computer Science (CS), Electrical Engineering (EE), Software Engineering (SE), or a related technical field.
Required Experience:
Software Development: Minimum of 3+ years of professional experience in software development.
Languages: Expert-level proficiency in JavaScript is required.
Systems Integration: Proven experience developing libraries or runtimes for integration into larger product ecosystems.
Skills Required
- Bachelor of Science or Engineering in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical field
