We are currently seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Engineer to join our dedicated team environment in a 7x24 operation. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the expert analysis of data acquired remotely from global assets, troubleshooting locomotives and associated systems. If you have a strong background in mechanical or electrical systems troubleshooting, hands-on experience with Wabtec Locomotives, and a passion for delivering exceptional service, this opportunity is for you.
Essential Functions (Responsibilities):
- Analyze data acquired remotely from global assets to expertly troubleshoot locomotives and associated systems.
- Utilize software tools to acquire key parameter, fault, and incident data and formulate detailed troubleshooting recommendations.
- Establish direct contact with customers and field teams to ensure the proper execution of troubleshooting recommendations and identify additional service opportunities.
- Provide troubleshooting assistance to customers and field personnel via telephone.
- Identify and drive the execution of opportunities to enhance productivity and performance in RM&D and Field Service Operations.
- Support reliability projects and provide feedback and support to the Engineering and Service Teams in identifying product deficiencies.
- Assist regional teams in Sales, Service, and Quality of GPOC/Wabtec products and services.
- Provide support to the ADS facility (EVO engine rebuilt and other small part remanufacturing) and the LKZ (locomotive factory) as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in a technical discipline or high school graduate/GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in design, repair, or troubleshooting of mechanical or electrical systems.
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on troubleshooting experience on GE/Wabtec Locomotives (Dash-8/9, AC4400, EVO, or PowerHaul domestic and international iterations).
Desired Qualifications:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Intermediate proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Proficiency in computer usage and ability to manage multiple applications simultaneously.
- Hands-on troubleshooting experience with Dash-8/9, AC4400, EVO, and PowerHaul Locomotives.
- Level I/II Certification in Wabtec's Advanced Locomotive Training Program.
- First-hand knowledge of railroad operations and maintenance practices.
- Certification in Six Sigma, Lean, or other Quality Programs.
- Willingness and ability to travel approximately 10%-15% of the time.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Working knowledge of Wabtec DIGITAL products and Systems and other Wabtec adjacent locomotive products.
