The Role

Role Summary:

The Dev Ops Engineer will work in security focused development operations, managing Dev Ops tools for code management, deployment, and security, supporting other GTT systems as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with maintaining DevSecOps initiatives including                                  
        - Ansible Patching System                                                              
        - Gitlab Enterprise platform                                                           
        - Kubernetes Platforms                                                                 
        - CI/CD Process Support in Gitlab and Jenkins                                          
  • Maintain core container images used by internal GTT customers                            
  • Able to troubleshoot and assist with Linux system administration                         
  • Be comfortable in and work primarily in Linux command line                               
  • Assist with implementation of security scanning and policies in Gitlab                   
  • Comfortable working with Python and Bash scripting                                       
  • Experience with different databases such as MySQL, MariaDB, Redis, InfluxDB              
  • Experience with Grafana or any other observability systems   

Required Experience/Qualifications:

  • Expert Linux System Administration: Proficiently diagnosing and resolving system-level issues, performance bottlenecks, and security concerns directly from the Linux command line. Very comfortable with the Linux command line and working & living within it daily.
  • Database Management: Experience with different databases including MySQL, MariaDB, Redis, and InfluxDB, deployed and managed on Linux servers.
  • Scripting Proficiency: Comfortable automating tasks and creating solutions using both Python and Bash scripting within Linux environments.
  • Core Container Images: Maintaining the integrity and security of base container images utilized by internal GTT customers, built upon Linux foundations.
  • Ansible Patching System: Ensuring secure and consistent patching across Linux environments.
  • CI/CD Process Support: Facilitating seamless integration and delivery pipelines in Gitlab and Jenkins, often within Linux environments.

 Good to have:

  • ​​​Observability Systems: Utilizing tools like Grafana to monitor system performance and health, often interacting with Linux-based metrics and logs.
  • Home Lab: Experience with building and maintaining your own Linux environments and virtualization on your own hardware
  • Kubernetes Platforms: Deploying, managing, and troubleshooting containerized applications within Linux-based Kubernetes clusters. Gitlab Enterprise
  • Platform: Maintaining and optimizing the platform, leveraging its Linux foundation.
  • Security Scanning and Policies in Gitlab: Implementing and managing security measures within Gitlab, often leveraging Linux-based tools and configurations.

  • System and Technology Integration: Knowledge of the features and facilities of systems; ability to integrate and communicate among applications, databases and technology platforms.
  • System Development Life Cycle: Knowledge of project management techniques; ability to plan, design, develop, test, implement and maintain system development life cycle segments and phases.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application or operation.
  • Technical Writing/Documentation: Knowledge of technical writing; ability to write technical documents such as manuals, reports, guidelines or documents on standards, processes and applications.
