Job Description
Rockwell Automation is looking for a creative engineer to join our small DevOps team which supports software developers in the area of industrial automation products. The team is located on the RA Prague campus. We are looking for a new colleague with experience in or an interest in software development, the automation of all processes, or someone who is already familiar with the named DevOps culture. Our DevOps team itself follows Agile development, and all of the project development teams we support use the Scrum methodology or eSAFE. You will directly work with excellent software and firmware projects and smart development teams. You will grow your career in the DevOps area of the R&D software development department by solving challenging problems using modern tools and practices.
You will report to the Prague manager and work in a hybrid model of three days in the office and two days from home.
Your Responsibilities:- Work with teams to use and implement DevOps tools and practices.
- Design and develop new tools, scripts, or applications for continuous integration (CI), continuous delivery (CD), and continuous testing (CT), and other processes automation.
- Use modern continuous integration and development tools, and promote continuous improvement of engineering tools and practices, including quality process
- Provide guidance and technical support to developers and testers in setting up and using shared DevOps infrastructure, customizing solutions to meet project specific needs.
- Support development teams by taking on common tasks required across all teams and projects, ensuring engineers can focus on their expertise rather than reinventing DevOps solutions. This includes for example, setting up automated reporting, documentation generation, static code analysis tools, and setting up and commissioning automation tools and platforms.
- Alternatively, also help with hardware and testbeds build and maintenance, ensuring teams can build code, run tests, and release with the right infrastructure in place.
- Advocate for and share successful DevOps practices across multiple projects and teams, driving collaboration and efficiency throughout the department.
- Bachelor's degree in informatics or engineering, or equivalent knowledge and experience in the software development principles and techniques
- 3+ years of relevant DevOps experience in a professional setting with a mixed IT experience background
- Both Czech and English in working proficiency
- Python will be the first-choice language for most of our automation tools and scripts development, so we are looking for an advanced Python enthusiast or someone with a commitment to becoming one.
- Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Windows and Linux systems, whether physical computers, virtual computers, or containerized, wherever possible. Preferably, this will be automated where reasonable.
- Automate activities using existing tools or our scripts in Python and shell scripting, or some Groovy and other languages.
- Use and maintenance of systems such as GitLab or GitHub, Jenkins and other DevOps tools, for the needs of development teams, setting up projects, repositories, and access.
- Knowledge of some CI/CD related tools and principles like Jenkins pipelines, GitLab CI/CD, GitHub Actions
- Cloud development experience using containerization in Docker and Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with CI/CD/CT systems such as GitHub Actions and DevOps principles
- Knowledge of infrastructure and configuration management tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or similar.
- Awareness of on-prem or public clouds, such as VMware and Azure or Proxmox.
- Understanding of IT networking, common network protocols, and services.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana
- Familiarity with Artifactory, Coverity
