Are you a skilled DevOps Engineer with a passion for building secure, scalable, automated infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments? You’ll join an integrated Software Solutions Team, collaborating closely with software engineers and other DevOps professionals to design, implement and refine the CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code, observability solutions and security practices that keep mission-critical applications reliable, secure and scalable. This is a full-time, hybrid position based in Ashburn, VA, with minimal travel (0–10%).
Essential Functions:
- Design, deploy and maintain secure, automated infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code, including provisioning systems for rapid deployments across on-premises and cloud environments.
- Implement and manage configuration management solutions to ensure consistency across servers and applications.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and artifact repositories for both on-prem and cloud environments.
- Apply security best practices, compliance standards and system hardening across environments, including access management and audit logging to ensure accountability for all data flows.
- Build observability solutions (monitoring, logging, alerting) for both on-prem and cloud systems.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to foster a security-first DevSecOps culture, using automation to improve consistency, speed and scalability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, deployment and provisioning issues across development, staging and production environments.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a similar field, or 3+ years with a Master’s degree, or equivalent experience.
- On-Prem Infrastructure & Linux: Experience managing virtualization platforms such as VMware ESXi, automating OS provisioning using PXE boot and Kickstart, strong Linux administration (RHEL & Ubuntu) and applying system hardening through patching, updates and dependency management.
- Cloud Platforms & Infrastructure as Code: Strong understanding of AWS services such as EC2, ECS, EKS, RDS, S3, IAM, Route 53, VPC networking and Security Hub, with hands-on experience using Terraform and/or CloudFormation and Ansible or Chef, and designing for scalability, security, cost optimization, resilience and disaster recovery.
- CI/CD & Automation: Strong experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as AWS CodePipeline, GitHub Actions and self-hosted runners; proficient in scripting and automation using Python, Bash and lambdas; able to manage artifact repositories such as Nexus and S3, including artifact lifecycle management and setting up mirrors in restricted environments.
- Monitoring / Logging / Alerting: Experience designing and operating observability stacks (e.g. Grafana, Prometheus, ELK, CloudWatch, Graylog), including building dashboards, centralized log management and configuring alerting systems for proactive issue detection and response.
- Security & Access Control: Strong grasp of least-privilege principles, identity management and audit logging.
- Ability to obtain a security clearance
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience operating in GovCloud or regulated environments (e.g. defense).
- Exposure to AI/ML pipelines and experience using AI-assisted tooling to accelerate automation and operations.
- Certifications (e.g. AWS DevOps Engineer / Solutions Architect, CompTIA Security+, CISSP or equivalent).
- Strong problem-solving, communication and collaboration abilities.
Cubic Pay Range:
$96,000.00 - $172,000.00 + benefits.
