Junior DevOps Engineer, Chennai

Our Technology teams are focused on supporting and modernizing enterprise applications through automation, DevOps best practices, and continuous improvement. The DevOps team manages these platforms while adopting modern engineering practices including GitHub Actions, Infrastructure Automation, Cloud technologies, and AI-assisted development tools.

As a Junior DevOps Engineer, you'll work alongside experienced engineers to support application deployments, CI/CD pipelines, operational excellence, and platform reliability. This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience across DevOps, Linux administration, security, cloud technologies, and AI-enabled engineering practices while contributing to critical business platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Support CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions for application build, test, deployment, and release activities.
  • Assist in managing and supporting applications hosted in on-premise and hybrid environments.
  • Perform log analysis, shell scripting, service monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Assist with automation initiatives to improve deployment efficiency, operational stability, and repeatability.
  • Follow DevSecOps practices including secure handling of credentials, access management, vulnerability remediation, and compliance requirements.
  • Monitor application and infrastructure health, investigate alerts, and support root cause analysis activities.
  • Utilize AI-powered engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot and Microsoft Copilot to improve productivity, documentation, automation, and troubleshooting.
  • Collaborate with development, infrastructure, database, security, and business teams while continuously building technical expertise

Qualifications

  • Must Have: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in DevOps, System Administration, Infrastructure Operations, or a related technical role.
  • Basic understanding of CI/CD concepts and source control systems such as GitHub.
  • Familiarity with GitHub Actions or willingness to learn modern CI/CD platforms.
  • Basic Linux/Unix administration knowledge including commands, file systems, process management, and shell scripting.
  • Understanding of DevOps principles, software delivery lifecycle, and release management concepts.
  • Exposure to Oracle databases or relational database concepts and SQL fundamentals.
  • Basic understanding of security best practices, including access controls, password management, and secure software delivery.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within Agile/Scrum teams.
  • Nice to Have: Exposure to cloud platforms  and Infrastructure as Code concepts (Terraform, Ansible, etc.).
  • Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools.
  • Experience with collaboration tools such as Jira, Confluence, and GitHub.
  • Exposure to container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes.
  • Experience using AI-enabled developer tools such as GitHub Copilot.
  • Strong learning mindset and eagerness to adopt new technologies.
