Role Overview

Nasuni is seeking a DevOps Infrastructure Engineer to support the build and release systems powering our enterprise storage platform.

This role focuses on operating and improving the infrastructure that runs our engineering build and testing pipelines, including Jenkins agents, VMware infrastructure, and Linux-based development environments.

You will help ensure the reliability and performance of the systems used by Nasuni’s global engineering organization to build, test, and release software.

This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy hands-on infrastructure administration, automation scripting, and supporting development teams through reliable build systems and release execution.

This role is not a software engineering role and does not focus on application development.

Level & Scope Definition

This role operates as a hands-on DevOps Infrastructure Engineer responsible for maintaining and improving the systems that power Nasuni’s internal build and release platform.

You will:

• Maintain Jenkins build infrastructure and agents
• Administer VMware vCenter and ESX environments supporting build infrastructure
• Automate infrastructure tasks using tools and scripts in Terraform, Ansible, and Packer
• Execute release builds and package management workflows
• Troubleshoot infrastructure interruptions impacting engineering productivity

This role works closely with software engineering teams by providing reliable infrastructure services and automation support for the development lifecycle.

Responsibilities

Build Infrastructure Operations

• Maintain and operate Jenkins infrastructure and build agents
• Troubleshoot and resolve build failures, agent issues, and pipeline interruptions
• Ensure build infrastructure remains secure, patched, and up to date

VMware Infrastructure Administration

• Manage VMware vCenter environments supporting engineering infrastructure
• Administer ESX hosts and clusters used for build and test systems
• Provision and maintain virtualized environments for engineering teams

Automation & Infrastructure Scripting

• Develop infrastructure automation using Terraform, Ansible, and Packer
• Automate repetitive operational tasks across build and test environments
• Improve infrastructure provisioning and consistency across environments

Release Engineering Support

• Execute release build workflows and support RPM packaging processes
• Support release qualification builds and artifact management
• Coordinate release readiness and update distribution systems

Engineering Infrastructure Support

• Support engineering teams by provisioning build environments and automation
• Assist with debugging build issues and infrastructure interruptions
• Maintain documentation and operational runbooks in Confluence

Continuous Improvement

• Improve reliability and performance of build and test systems
• Optimize build execution time and infrastructure efficiency
• Evaluate emerging tooling such as GitHub Actions runners or container-based build environments

AI-Assisted Workflow Efficiency

• Leverage AI-assisted tooling where appropriate to accelerate troubleshooting, documentation, and infrastructure automation while validating outputs for accuracy and operational reliability.

Qualifications

Must-Have Qualifications

• 3–6 years of experience in DevOps, Infrastructure Engineering, Administration, or Build Engineering
• Hands-on experience managing Jenkins infrastructure or build systems using Groovy
• Experience administering VMware environments including vCenter and ESX hosts
• Strong Linux systems administration experience
• Experience creating infrastructure automation using Terraform, Ansible, or Packer
• Experience troubleshooting build failures and infrastructure reliability issues
• Experience supporting engineering teams through internal infrastructure services
• Experience automating repetitive operational tasks

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting build and release infrastructure for software engineering teams
• Familiarity with RPM packaging or artifact management workflows
• Experience operating large Jenkins environments with multiple build agents
• Exposure to GitHub Actions, runners, or modern CI systems
• Experience working in environments with VMware clusters supporting development infrastructure

Ideal Qualifications

• Experience supporting build infrastructure used by large distributed engineering teams
• Experience improving build reliability and execution performance
• Experience managing virtualized infrastructure at scale (100+ hosts or VMs)
• Experience migrating build systems toward containerized runners or Kubernetes

Experience Guidelines

Total Experience

3–6 years in DevOps, infrastructure engineering, or build engineering roles.

Relevant Technical Experience

2+ years administering Linux infrastructure

2+ years managing Jenkins or build automation systems

2+ years working with VMware infrastructure

Experience with automation scripting using Terraform, Ansible, or Packer
