Job Description
We are seeking a DevOps Cloud Engineer for our DevSecOps team. The DevSecOps team is a high-impact group of 8 engineers who are responsible for supporting the national operations of our VI deployments, including our VehicleManager portfolio. These are highly available 24x7 cloud applications.
Your DevOps role involves supporting development and operational excellence, including tasks related to CI/CD pipeline maintenance, infrastructure automation (Infrastructure as Code), deployment architecture, system observability, and continuous improvement. You’ll work with a dynamic and energetic team to support and mentor you.
This role requires hands-on experience with a strong focus on Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and a foundational understanding of cloud platforms. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between development and operations, ensuring rapid, reliable, and secure software delivery. You will also contribute to defining and implementing our next-generation observability strategy.
The candidate should have experience with our platform’s technology stack, including Kubernetes with .NET containers. Success in the first year means the candidate effectively contributes to improving the speed, reliability, and security of our software delivery process for our Vehicle Intelligence applications. Candidates must demonstrate an ability to troubleshoot and assist in diagnosing multi-service production incidents, translating technical analysis into actionable insights for the team.
Day to day responsibilities include:
Design, implement, and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions to automate software releases.
Manage cloud infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform to provision and manage cloud resources (Azure/GCP).
Drive the creation, deployment, and optimization of our core Observability platforms (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, etc.) to ensure complete system visibility.
Monitoring and troubleshooting the system, focusing on performance, availability, and uptime.
Creating workflow automation and managing automated testing strategies.
Requirements:
Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contract.
Bachelor’s of Science degree in Computer Science or related applied technology field.
1+ years of experience in a DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering role.
Experience with CI/CD pipelines, including maintenance and monitoring (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
Working knowledge of Observability and Application Performance Management.
Working knowledge of cloud architecture, microservices, and deployment workflows.
Hands-on experience with Microsoft .NET, C#.
Ability to independently and collaboratively solve problems in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills, capable of conveying technical concepts to a diverse audience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Cloud/Platform Expertise
Experience with Helm / Kubernetes administration.
Hands on with Microsoft Azure and Google GCP is beneficial.
Experience with observability and metrics, including Prometheus, Grafana.
Familiarity with DevSecOps principles, practical experience in tools such as Terraform, GitHub Actions, or Google Cloud Deployment Manager for infrastructure automation, and familiarity with monitoring and logging tools like Prometheus or ELK (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) Stack.
Database & System Administration
Experience with distributed large-scale SQL databases.
Familiarity with both SQL and NoSQL databases.
Best practice knowledge and experience for the configuration, maintenance, and management of Windows Server environments (Windows Server 2019 / 2022).
Security and Authentication
Working knowledge of security best practices as it relates to ciphers, key management, security protocols, and experience working with Red/Blue security teams to improve security posture.
Knowledge of Active Directory services and other network services with a strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, SSH, UDP, IPv4, IPv6, DNS, SMTP, SFTP, DHCP, VPN, IPSec).
Knowledge of modern authentication protocols like OAuth, OpenID Connect, SAML 2.0, FIDO2, and JWT.
Target Base Salary Range: $85,000 USD - $100,000 USD

Note: Candidate will be in the Chicago and/or Schaumburg office one day per week.
