POSITION SCOPE:     

 

The Development Manager is a creative, organized, and self-motivated professional who is passionate about helping a mission-driven nonprofit thrive and grow. This position plays a key role in supporting fundraising, managing philanthropic events, and leading marketing and communications efforts at Chrysalis Center. The Development Manager will assist with the growth of various development initiatives and help ensure organizational revenue goals are met. This is a full-time position reporting directly to the Director of Development & Communications.


The Development Manager will provide administrative and strategic support to the Director of Development & Communications and collaborate closely on opportunities to increase fundraising revenue. Responsibilities include supporting donor cultivation and stewardship, assisting with fundraising campaigns and initiatives, and contributing to new strategies that strengthen agency funding. Experience in relationship-building, fundraising, or grant writing, or a demonstrated willingness to proactively develop these skills is preferred.


The Development Manager will also assist with creating and writing marketing and communications materials, including newsletters, e-newsletters, and other collateral. This position will oversee Chrysalis Center’s social media accounts, including researching, writing, editing, proofreading, and publishing content that accurately and effectively supports the organization’s marketing and communications goals.


The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong community engagement skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across Chrysalis Center, including the Finance Department. The successful candidate will be a positive team player who can also work independently, anticipate needs and challenges, solve problems proactively, and communicate effectively through strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.

 

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assist with planning and executing special donor-related events, including managing guest lists, registration, mail merges, budgets and marketing materials.
  2. Provide leadership in planning the Empty Bowls Event and provide major support of planning, execution and record keeping of fundraising events such as Butterfly Bash and other various fundraisers & stewardship events throughout the year. This also includes coordinating vendors, auction donation procurement, sponsors and volunteers for various events.
  3. Act as a liaison to build and maintain relationships with community groups, such as the Chambers of Commerce, Elks, local business associations, faith-based organizations and neighborhood or resident associations to enhance the impact and visibility of our department’s work.
  4. Oversee (new) Bloomerang CRM, which includes oversight of acknowledgement letters and database administration.
  5. Assist with creating and mailing donor appeals.
  6. Works with Chrysalis program staff to identify beneficiary stories that can be used to create compelling donation solicitations and marketing materials.
  7. Create and execute digital and print newsletters for organization and assist with other publicity.
  8. Oversee day-to-day social media platforms for organization (Facebook, Instagram & LinkedIn) and help maintain organization’s website.
  9. Provides back-up support to Director of Development & Communications and Volunteer Engagement Manager as needed.
  10. Fulfill other duties as assigned.
  11. Adheres to all Chrysalis Center, Inc.’s policies, procedures and standards at all times.
  12. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor's degree and prior experience working in the non-profit industry. Experience in donor relations and interacting with volunteers a plus.
  2. Experience with special events and events planning
  3. Experience with creation of marketing and communication materials and social media. Familiarity with graphic design skills helpful such as Canva.
  4. Occasional night and/or evening work required during special events.
  5. Additional training in computer donor database applications, and proficiency in Excel.
  6. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  7. Strong organizational skills.
  8. Self-starter, team player.
  9. Possess and maintains a valid drivers’ license, reliable vehicle, current registration and insurance.

  7. Maintains and demonstrates a thorough understanding of agency mission and values as well as current knowledge of all client demographics and programs.
