Salary Up to £46,000 (inc. 30% shift premium) depending on experience

Location Miskin, South Wales
 

We are currently recruiting for a Development Machinist within Low Volume Manufacturing working a 3 shift pattern (6am – 2pm, 2pm – 10pm & 10pm – 6am). The purpose of the role is to provide additional programming, setting and operating resource to support the increased production demand of specials and low volume production parts.

Responsibilities

  • Setting / Operating CNC machines (Milling or Turning) to the standard set and run times

  • Interpret drawings and use initiative in deciding tooling selection and the method of manufacture

  • Monitor the quality of components using a wide range of equipment including CMM inspection and complete departmental quality documentation

  • Generate new component part programmes with the aid of Gibbs CAM programming software and subsequent prove out of new processes

Key requirements

  • Applicants must have served an apprenticeship and have expertise in using a variety of CNC machine tools, including milling or turning

  • A sound knowledge of manufacturing methodology to ensure that new processes are both capable and efficient.

  • Demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills

  • Good PC skills are essential

Desirable requirements

  • A comprehensive knowledge of CNC machining with some programming knowledge is desirable.

  • Experience using a variety of inspection methods including CMMs

  • Expertise in the use of GibbsCam software would be desirable although full training will be provided for successful applicants
