The Development Coordinator, Advancement is a key member of the Metropolitan Opera’s fundraising team, supporting donor engagement, corporate partnerships, and cross-departmental coordination that help advance the institution’s philanthropic goals. This role offers meaningful exposure to advancement strategy and stewardship, with a primary emphasis on the day-to-day administrative execution that keeps fundraising efforts moving forward. It is well suited to someone who is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing a high volume of administrative work in a fast-paced environment.
 
This position provides administrative and project support across the Met’s Development Department, with a primary focus on new initiatives, corporate stewardship and planned giving administrative support. Core responsibilities include maintaining accurate donor records in the Met’s donor database, Tessitura, coordinating donor requests such as ticketing, supporting cultivation and stewardship events, drafting acknowledgments, managing affiliate group materials and related website content, helping track donor and prospect pipelines, and responding to planned giving phone/email/web inquiries. The role also involves a significant volume of administrative work that requires strong judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. This position reports to the Director, Advancement and works closely with the Director, Sponsorship and Corporate Relations, and the Director, Gift Planning and Administration. 

Primary Responsibilities

    • Assist with donor ticket requests, correspondence, mailings, recordkeeping, and other core administrative tasks.
    • Support stewardship efforts for key corporate sponsors and affiliate fundraising groups, as well as the Met’s Encore Society. 
    • Maintain shared documents, digital files, and other department materials to support effective communication and coordination.
    • Maintain accurate donor records in Tessitura and help track prospect activity and pipeline progress.
    • Assist in developing and updating donor-facing materials and select affiliate group content for the Met’s website.
    • Coordinate invitations, RSVPs, staffing, and event logistics for on-site and off-site affiliate fundraising events.
    • Provide phone and email coverage for planned giving and general administrative support to the greater department as needed.
    • Assist with additional Development events, presentations, and special projects as needed.

Skills and Qualifications

    • B.A. degree or equivalent.
    • 2 years related experience, preferably in arts administration.
    • Excellent attention to detail, and strong interpersonal and written skills required.
    • Proficient with all basic computer programs, including Outlook and Microsoft Office. Experience with donor databases, particularly Tessitura, a plus.
    • Must be interested in the performing arts, with knowledge of music and/or opera a plus.
    • Proficiency in Korean and other languages, a plus.

    • Capable of working quickly and adapting readily to changes in priorities.
