Founded by law students in 1986, Equal Justice Works is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that brings together an extensive network of law students, lawyers, advocates, legal services organizations, and supporters to promote a lifelong commitment to public service and equal justice. The Development Coordinator will support the Development Unit’s cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of individuals, foundations, and corporate donors. This position will help strengthen Equal Justice Works’ fundraising efforts by conducting prospect research, supporting grant applications and reports, coordinating online donor engagement, and preparing materials for donor meetings, campaigns, and leadership presentations.

Position Overview:

The Development Coordinator supports the Unit’s management, cultivation, and solicitation of individuals and foundations. The position will help leverage the organization’s Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system to support data-driven approaches to fundraising. This includes compiling donations, researching prospects, providing support on grant applications, performing regular data integrity checks within CRM, and assisting with the training of unit’s staff on CRM’s best practices. The position requires strong attention to detail, and a keen knowledge of the activities and procedures specific to the Development Unit. The Coordinator reports to the Senior Manager of Development Operations and works closely with all members of the team on the implementation of the organization’s fundraising plans.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Development Operations Manager in maintaining the Unit’s prospect pipelines within CRM, including but not limited to monitoring, updating, and standardizing opportunities, and updating training guides on prospect management.
  • Researching prospects, providing support on grant applications, performing regular data integrity checks within the Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system, and assisting with the training of staff on best practices.
  • Generate prospect reports.
  • Support presentation and deck formatting for donor meetings, campaign updates, and leadership presentations
  • Support cultivation, and solicitation of individuals, foundations, and corporate donors.
  • Provide support on grant applications and reports.
  • Coordinate online donor solicitations and stewardship.
  • Responsible for fundraising reports and entry of constituent data in CRM.
  • Other duties assigned.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 1 to 2 years of experience.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook).
  • Proficient in CRM and donor management software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and coordinate across teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle confidential donor information with professionalism and discretion
  • Ability to demonstrate passion for the mission of Equal Justice Works

Location:

Hybrid role, DMV based candidate to be in near proximity to our Washington DC Office
