About this opportunity:
We are looking for a RF Test Development Engineer to drive the AI-enabled evolution of our radio product test platform. You will combine hands-on RF test expertise with modern AI/ML techniques to build smarter, faster, and more robust test systems for Ericsson's next-generation radio products. This role sits within the IVC team in Chengdu and collaborates closely with radio designers, test engineers, and global test platform teams.
What you will do:
- Design, develop, and maintain RF test software and algorithms for verification of Ericsson radio products.
- Integrate AI/ML capabilities into the existing RF test platform - including intelligent test result analysis, anomaly detection and automated root-cause identification.
- Build and optimize automated test frameworks that cover data preprocessing, model inference, test execution, and result reporting.
- Develop and verify drivers and control software for RF measurement instruments (signal generators, spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, power meters).
- Analyze test system performance data using statistical and AI-driven methods to reduce test time, improve test stability, and minimize false failures.
- Set up and maintain RF test hardware and software in lab environments; support verification designers in prototype debugging and performance evaluation.
- Implement CI/CD pipelines for test software to automate build, test, and deployment processes.
- Stay current with AI advancements (LLMs, ML algorithms, data analytics) and evaluate their applicability to RF test challenges.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Radio Design, verification developer, global TE team) on test specifications, troubleshooting, and new product introduction.
- Participate in technical daily stand-ups, design reviews, and team knowledge-sharing sessions.
The skills you bring:
- Master's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, Electronic Information, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in RF test development or test system engineering.
- Solid programming skills in JAVA; experience with Python is a plus.
- Experience in database, such as MySQL and MongoDB
- Hands-on experience with RF measurement instruments and conducted/radiated RF measurements.
- Familiarity with AI/ML fundamentals - experience applying machine learning or deep learning to engineering problems (e.g., data-driven test optimization, automated analysis) is strongly preferred.
- Experience with test automation frameworks and CI/CD toolchains (Jenkins, Git, Docker, or equivalent).
- Understanding of analog RF principles, digital signal processing, and measurement uncertainty.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset.
- Good communication and teamwork skills; comfortable working in a global, cross-site environment.
- Self-motivated with the ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies.
Nice to have:
- Exposure to large language models (LLMs) or GenAI tools applied to engineering workflows.
- Knowledge of 5G NR or LTE radio architecture.
