About us
Ericsson is opening a new R&D center in Yokohama focused on Radio and Software development. This hub will support major Japanese carriers, partner with local vendors, and deliver Japan-driven products for networks worldwide. We're hiring across experience levels while building out the team, labs, and offices.
About this opportunity
We're looking for a passionate ENV Verification Engineer to join our IVC (Integration, Verification & Certification) organization, shaping the performance of Ericsson's next-generation radio products. IVC is the final step before market approval, working with global regulatory bodies to secure certifications.
You'll verify node radio performance under environmental disturbances - temperature, power disturbance, lightning, acoustics, and mechanical stress - ensuring reliability under real-world conditions. This is a hands-on, lab-focused role working closely with design and validation teams, while aligning test approaches with standards bodies (3GPP, ETSI, ANSI, FCC) and preparing for future needs like 6G.
What you'll do
- Develop end-to-end environmental test strategies, plans, and procedures
- Build and maintain test setups; ensure calibration and measurement traceability
- Automate data collection/analysis; produce verification and trouble reports
- Verify radio node performance under: power line disturbances, vibration/earthquake, climatic stress, jitter and wander
- Perform RF measurements and analysis
- Support troubleshooting and root-cause analysis with design teams
- Execute hands-on lab work with electrical components and measurement equipment
- Improve lab methods, safety practices, and verification tooling
- Map compliance requirements to test evidence and maintain audit documentation
Skills you bring
- BSc/MSc in Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, or related engineering field
- Hands-on experience with environmental testing (climatic chambers, shakers)
- Familiarity with instrumentation (DAQ, thermocouples, accelerometers, power monitoring)
- Strong documentation skills for test plans, procedures, and reports
- Knowledge of baseband/radio product concepts and standards (3GPP/ETSI/CE/FCC/Telec)
- Strong RF measurement skills and RF instrument experience
- Proven troubleshooting and methodical problem-solving
- Test method design and test environment setup experience
- Strong communication and teamwork with cross-functional teams
- Comfortable in Lean/Agile processes
- Fluent in English; Japanese collaboration is a strong plus
Nice to have: test automation programming, regulatory experience, practical base station/radio/wireless system experience, third-party lab coordination.
What we offer
- A central role in building a new R&D center from the ground up, with modern labs
- Work on products shaping national and global digital infrastructure
- Innovation-focused, collaborative culture with internal mobility
- Hands-on work with RF instrumentation and modern automation frameworks
- Competitive compensation and benefits
- Support for professional growth and mentoring
- Clear career paths from IC to technical leadership or management
- Flexible working arrangements
