Position Title: Dev Ops Architect

Base Salary: $126,000 to $174,500 annually DOE

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced DevOps Architect with a strong foundation in Systems Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles to lead the design, implementation, and evolution of our critical infrastructure and application delivery pipelines. This role will be pivotal in ensuring the reliability, scalability, performance, and security of our systems, while also driving architectural best practices and fostering a culture of automation and continuous improvement across our engineering teams.

You will be responsible for defining the architectural vision for our DevOps practices, proactively identifying and mitigating potential risks, and ensuring our systems are resilient and capable of meeting future demands.

DevOps Architecture and Strategy

·        Define and champion the architectural roadmap for our DevOps infrastructure and processes, ensuring alignment with business objectives and industry best practices.

·        Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD): Architect and optimize our CI/CD pipelines to enable rapid, reliable, and secure software releases.

·        Evaluate, select, and implement appropriate DevOps tools and technologies to automate manual tasks, improve efficiency, and enhance system reliability.

Reliability, Performance, and Resiliency

·        Apply SRE principles to design and implement highly reliable and available systems, including defining service level objectives (SLOs), service level indicators (SLIs), and error budgets.

·        Design and implement comprehensive monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to proactively identify and resolve system issues, providing deep insights into system performance and behavior.

·        Identify and address performance bottlenecks across the infrastructure and application stack, implementing strategies for capacity planning, load balancing, and caching.

·        Analyze system usage patterns and forecast future capacity needs to ensure our infrastructure can handle anticipated growth.

Security, Compliance, and Business Continuity

·        Integrate security best practices into the DevOps lifecycle, collaborating with security teams to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

·        Design and implement robust disaster recovery and business continuity plans to minimize downtime and ensure data integrity in the event of failures.

Incident Response and Continuous Improvement

·        Participate in incident response and post-mortem analysis to identify root causes and implement preventative measures.

·        Promote a DevOps culture within the organization, advocating for automation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Technical Leadership and Stakeholder Communication

·        Effectively communicate architectural designs, technical concepts, and project progress to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

·        Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to other engineers on DevOps best practices and architectural principles.

Other Duties

·        Performs other duties as required to support the business and evolving organization.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
  
• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, IT services, or infrastructure architecture.
  
• Proven experience in designing, building, and managing large-scale distributed systems and services.
  
• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization technologies (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker).
  
• Expertise in system architecture principles, including service-oriented architectures (SOA), microservices, and RESTful API design.
  
• Familiarity with CI/CD processes, DevOps practices, and automation tools.
  
• In-depth understanding of monitoring, logging, and alerting tools (e.g., Prometheus, ELK Stack, Datadog).
  
• Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex system issues.
  
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across teams and departments.

·        Strong knowledge of DevOps, CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, automation, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles.

·        Ability to lead technical initiatives and influence decisions across teams and stakeholders.

Work Environment

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to computer screens and requires extensive use of a computer, keyboard, mouse, and multi-line telephone system. The work is primarily a modern office setting.
