Position Summary

The Detail Planner is responsible for developing detailed production work packages that support shipbuilding operations. This position reviews engineering drawings and specifications, develops labor and material estimates, prepares work orders, establishes fabrication and installation requirements, and coordinates with Engineering, Production, Materials, and other stakeholders to ensure planning readiness and successful execution of ship construction activities.

Domestic travel may be required.


Essential Functions

  • Review drawings and documentation to develop work packages, production requirements, and instructions
  • Prepare labor and material estimates, including requirements for production activities
  • Generate and release work orders including job requirements, material needs, sequencing, and schedule
  • Coordinate with cross functional teams to resolve issues, support fabrication, and improve production
  • Other duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications

Required Skills

  • Ability to read engineering drawings
  • Knowledge of shipbuilding workflow, material flow, and production processes
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems through work experience or valid certification
  • Must have strong Microsoft Office Suite computer skills
  • Must have strong organizational, time management, written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have ability to maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor
  • Must adhere to ISO and OSHA policies established by FMG and have high values for safety awareness

 

Education and Experience

  • Associates degree, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • 2 Years of related experience required
  • Knowledge of shipbuilding workflow, material processing, and production processes is preferred

Physical Demands and Work Environment
While performing job duties, the employee is frequently required to sit and occasionally stand or walk; use hands and arms to grasp, reach and type; stoop or kneel; and speak or hear. The position is primarily performed in a quiet, climate-controlled environment with minimal exposure to moving equipment, elements, or risk of injury.
