Role overview:
This role is responsible for the support and maintenance of the Bluecrest desktop infrastructure for 500+ users globally. The role requires a strong understanding of the standard windows environment, as well as the ability to quickly pick up new knowledge of specific applications within the environment. The role will be diverse, and there will be opportunity to help define the future direction in terms of scope and desktop technology.
There may be a requirement to work shifts in order to cover trading times, although the hours covered are not expected to be outside of 7am – 7pm, with occasional weekend work. This role is a great opportunity for someone who is a self-starter, pro-active and keen to enhance and develop their skills set through both hands-on experience and training
Experience required:
Key Capabilities:
- Corporate & Trade Floor support experience working in a major financial institution within a dynamic operational support environment.
- A rounded engineer with knowledge across the infrastructure and telephony/dealer board stack, with the ability to work with all functions of Front and Back Office staff.
- The ideal candidate will have experience in working under pressure and be confident in helping remote users as well as physical desk side support where required
Essential knowledge and skills
- Trading floor, Investment firm experience of high-pressure environments
- Experience with assisting VIP members of staff
- Windows 10 Operating systems
- MS Office through to Office 2019 including custom built Excel add-in support.
- Corporate telephony and trading dealer boards
- Video conferencing platforms and end user support (MS Teams or similar)
- Deployment tools (SCCM or similar)
- Market Data experience, in particular Bloomberg.
- Networking technologies and desktop-to-comms room patching
- HP Desktop Hardware products and support
- BYOD Mobile email support (Blackberry UEM or similar)
- Strong knowledge of remote connection technologies, Citrix Access Gateway, OKTA, 2-factor authentication
- Strong knowledge of Citrix Receiver & Citrix Xen Desktop Environment
- Ability to Support Traders in WAN connected offices
- Willingness to assist with onsite building/facilities duties
- Experience with desktop moves and changes / hardware support
- Expertise with scripting languages such as PowerShell/VBA
Desirable knowledge and skills
- Avaya telephony skills
- Poly video conferencing
- Microsoft Hyper-V/VMWARE VDI Support
- Mobile technology OS familiarity of Mac, Android & Windows
- Ability to Rack Servers & Switches in a Comms Room
