Purpose:

The Desktop Engineer will be responsible for managing, maintaining, and supporting the Bank’s mobile, laptop, and desktop (physical and virtual) assets as well the infrastructure to ensure all are up-to-date and operating efficiently, while continually working to improve the overall performance of the desktop environment by implementing new technologies and optimizing existing ones. This role is also responsible for ensuring that all desktop management assets, both physical and virtual, meet the Bank’s security, compliance, and disaster recovery standards.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Communicates and interacts effectively with management, peers, and customers.

• Asset Management for physical and virtual assets: managing end user systems life cycle from purchasing, inventory, burn-in, configuration, deployment, patching/updating, decommissions, and then to destruction of the devices, both physical and virtual asset.

• Performs vulnerability/patch management.

• Performs disaster recovery planning, testing, and management activities.

• Performs IT security and compliance management activities.

• Performs inventory management and capacity management activities.

• Trains and mentors desktop support staff.

• Continues research for process and system improvements.

• Leverages IT service and support best practices and process frameworks, such as the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL).

Position Requirements:

• Must have a minimum of 5+ years' experience in at least two of the following areas: MS Windows Desktop or Server administration, virtual desktop or server technologies, network management, Cloud Services, client-server technology, and LAN administration.

• Must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the mobile and desktop (physical and virtual) administration or in a related field.

• Must be proficient in at least two of the following languages or operating systems: MS Windows, Linux, or MAC OS, Android, iOS, and iPadOS.

• Must be fluent in at least PowerShell and Batch scripting as well as one other scripting technology: Linux scripting shells, T-SQL, PL-SQL, C#, vba, Python, or JavaScript.

• Must have a solid understanding of current virtual desktop technologies, networking protocols and applications, networking operating systems, plus a strong understanding of current networking product trends.
