We are looking for the best and brightest to join us in designing for the future!ResponsibilitiesThe silicon computing development team is seeking passionate, driven and intellectually curious engineers and managers to join our back-end SoC design team covering RTL to GDS methodology, design convergence, and design quality for our projects. This team is involved in numerous projects within Microsoft developing custom silicon for a diverse set of systems. We are responsible for delivering cutting-edge, custom SoC designs that can perform complex and high-performance functions in the most efficient manner. In this high impact role on the team, you will be responsible to:

  • Be a key member of technical management team developing world-class and complex SOC designs consisting of multiple subsystems and IP components
  • Build, lead, manage and grow a diverse and inclusive team
  • Define & refine back-end design development methodologies, plans and schedules
  • Plan the work of your team on multiple simultaneous development projects with broader leadership team
  • Provide leadership in all aspects of physical design (planning, synthesis, place&route, power flows, layout verification, signal/power integrity flows & execution) of complex blocks, systems and whole SoC (including tape-out)
  • Work cross functionally as a team with specialists in architecture, design, DFT, custom circuits and post silicon validation
  • Engage with partners to drive continuous improvement to both the design and the physical design tools/flows to ensure optimal solutions in design implementation
  • Manage direct reports by goal setting, mentoring, coaching, and providing performance appraisals, career planning and compensation recommendations

QualificationsRequirements:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related degree.
  • 10+ years of experience in physical design including 3+ years of technical management experience as a part of a CPU, SoC and/or IP development team
  • Demonstrated background and understanding of CPU/SoC physical design details, tools, flows and methodologies pertaining to synthesis, APR, timing, power, noise convergence flows, layout verification and tape-out of large complex SoCs in the most advanced technology nodes.
  • Deep understanding of industry standard physical design tools (Synopsys Fusion Compiler, Cadence Innovus, Mentor Calibre, Ansys Redhawk,...)
  • Great communication, collaboration and teamwork skills and ability to contribute to diverse and inclusive teams.
  • Proven track record of implementing designs through synthesis, floorplanning, place and route, extraction, timing, and physical verification.

Additional Preferred one or more of these Requirements:

  • Ability to develop novel solutions to modern complex CPU/SoC design challenges in the back-end with a track record on quality and timely execution
  • 3+ years of experience assembling a project plan with inputs from multiple stakeholders as well as the development team, then tracking, reporting, and identifying mitigation steps as needed to adhere to the project schedule
  • Extensive experience in 7nm and below technologies
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Strong communication, collaboration and teamwork skills and ability to contribute to diverse and inclusive teams.
