The Instructional Designer is responsible for building and deploying a consistent and reputable learning and development experience for team members within the Upgrade Phoenix Service Center. The role will report to the Sr Manager of Learning and Development and must closely partner with the instructional designer and stakeholders across the organization to deliver end-to-end planning, guidance, and coordination of training programs with business partners, leadership and subject matter experts. As the second hire for the Learning and Development organization, this role is fast paced and will give you the challenge that you're craving in your L&D career!

What you'll do:

  • Collaborates with Instructional Designer to design new curricula, as well as translate existing learning content to new delivery formats. Use instructional design and multi-media skills to develop engaging learning materials including videos, e-learning modules, workbooks, instructor guides, and job aids that will drive organizational learning and results
  • Partner with subject matter experts and other stakeholders to capture knowledge and reflect accurately in learning contentIdentify ongoing learning needs leveraging business metrics to recommend solutions
  • Develop and manage content maintenance routine to ensure learning content reflects updates and changes
  • Evaluate learner and stakeholder feedback, as well as current learning processes and offerings to determine if changes are required to assist a growing organization
  • Other duties as assigned

What you have:

  • Experience as Content Developer, Instructional Designer or Technical Writer within corporate space supporting the financial services industry
  • Knowledge of adult learning theories, Bloom’s Taxonomy, instructional design models, and development of assessments / testing
  • Experience making digital learning interactive, engaging, and social
  • Experience with e-learning tools such as Captivate and Articulate Storyline
  • Desire to think beyond traditional training and innovate in the learning experience and design space
  • Strong consultative approach that promotes quick ability to establish trust and credibility with members of leadership, Compliance, and People Operations
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal, including the ability to develop concise and effective communications tailored to specific audiences
  • Highly proficient in time management, organization, planning and prioritization with a ‘roll-up your sleeves’ to get things done attitude
  • Comfortable in a collaborative work environment, building strong and effective lines of communication with colleagues and subject matter experts.

Since I started at Upgrade, I have been exposed to new technologies for test automation, infrastructure and code coverage, to name a few. I had some challenges in making our test framework more efficient and faster.
