Job Overview
We are looking for a Design System Manager / Designer who will act as the product owner of the company’s Design System (DS) while remaining a hands-on individual contributor. This role is responsible for defining, building, evolving, and scaling the design system across the organization to ensure consistency, efficiency, and high-quality user experiences.
The ideal candidate combines strategic thinking with strong visual and craft skills, and will lead the planning and implementation of the design system across products, working closely with designers, developers, and product teams.
Key Responsibilities
Design System Ownership
Act as the product owner of the company-wide Design System.
Define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the design system.
Ensure the design system supports current and future product needs.
Maintain governance and standards for design consistency across the organization.
Design System Implementation
Plan and drive company-wide design system implementation.
Work closely with product teams, designers, and engineers to ensure adoption.
Define release cycles, versioning, and rollout plans for design system updates.
Provide guidance and support to teams integrating the design system into their products.
Hands-On Design & Component Creation
Design and maintain UI components, patterns, and visual guidelines.
Create and maintain component libraries, documentation, and usage guidelines.
Ensure accessibility, usability, and scalability of design components.
Collaborate with engineering teams to align design tokens, components, and implementation standards.
Visual Design & Creative Production
Contribute high-quality visual assets across the design system including:
Visual design
Illustrations
Icons and infographics
Motion graphics
Brand assets
Video content
Ensure visual consistency across products and communication channels.
Collaboration & Design Governance
Partner with product managers, designers, developers, and brand teams.
Establish design system best practices and governance models.
Run workshops or training sessions to improve design system adoption and usage.
Advocate for design consistency and quality across the organization.
Required Qualifications
8+ years of experience in product design, UI design, or design systems.
Proven experience building or managing a design system at scale.
Strong expertise in visual design and UI component design.
Experience collaborating closely with engineering teams on component implementation.
Proficiency with design tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools.
Experience creating design documentation and component libraries.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with design tokens and component-based design systems.
Familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, React or similar).
Experience scaling design systems across multiple products or platforms.
Background in brand design or creative production.
