We are looking for a Design Researcher to join us as we build cutting-edge technology solutions! This is your opportunity to be part of a team that is committed to delivering best in class service to our customers.
In this role you will work with an interdisciplinary group of researchers, designers, and engineers to support the continuous improvement of a complex digital platform. The role requires conducting customer-focused, iterative research across various domains, using methodologies like usability studies, interviews, and surveys. You will be instrumental in translating insights into actionable design and product decisions while fostering a collaborative environment with your cross-functional partners. Your research will have a measurable impact on user experience enhancements, helping to refine and evolve the product based on direct user feedback and analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Define and implement various qualitative research methods, including field research, surveys, lab studies, remote testing, and A/B testing.
- Conduct independent research on product and experience aspects to generate valuable insights.
- Deliver actionable findings to design and engineering counterparts, maintaining high standards and timely reporting.
- Communicate and advocate for research insights, building consensus on design and feature adjustments.
- Document and present recommendations and insights based on research to inform product direction.
- Work closely with the supervising Design Researcher or Manager to identify and address critical usability issues.
Qualifications:
- BA or MA/MS in fields like Experimental Psychology, Cognitive Psychology, Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related discipline.
- At least 2 years of experience in experimental research within a software product environment, with demonstrated outcomes that impact product teams.
- Proficiency in conducting usability studies, interviews, and surveys.
- Solid understanding of the design process, including leveraging research to enhance each stage.
- Proven experience collaborating across multiple disciplines, including design and engineering, to implement research findings.
- Strong project management skills, with experience in Agile or Lean methodologies preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, with experience presenting research data to stakeholders effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience within enterprise-level environments, particularly with usability and strategic research projects.
- Portfolio demonstrating relevant projects and research.
Salary Range
Pay ranges vary based on multiple factors including, without limitation, skill sets, education, responsibilities, experience, and geographical market. The pay range for this position reflects geographic based ranges for Washington state: $90,000 to $100,000 USD/annually. The salary/wage and job title for this opening will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications and experience and may be outside this range.
