Job Description:
- Looking for an energetic and organized Design Release Engineer, Electrical Accessories to lead the development of electrical accessory point integration.
- This position will work with the electrical hardware, systems, and software teams along with the accessory group to develop robust and cost-effective accessory connection points.
- This Engineer will report to the Manager of Electrical Modules and Accessories.
- Responsibilities will be broad in scope and complex, requiring creativity, superior initiative, good judgement, and leadership skills.
WHAT YOU GET TO DO:
- Define requirements for electrical accessories, including wiring harnesses, control modules, lighting, and other components.
- Develop designs using CAD software while ensuring compatibility with vehicle systems.
- Work with various engineering teams (mechanical, electrical, software) to ensure seamless integration of accessories.
- Collaborate with manufacturing, purchasing, and other stakeholders to support production and resolve issues.
- Utilize LEAN Engineering methodologies throughout.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent from an ABET accredited (or equivalent) program. Master's degree is preferred.
- 5 years of relevant experience in automotive electrical design and release.
- Hands on experience with open loop and closed loop control systems for sensors, actuators, body controllers, ECUs, etc.
- Hands on experience with Low Voltage (LV) components, such as circuit breakers, relays, wiring, etc.
- Hands on experience with High Voltage (HV) components, such as DCDC converter, motor and inverter, battery, on-board charger, etc.
- Hands on experience with CAN, LIN, and Ethernet communication protocols.
- Experience using problem solving methodologies to diagnose complex issues, such as 8D, Five Whys, and Fishbone processes.
- Functional experience with industry standards and regulatory requirements, such as FMVSSS, NHTSA, DOT, USCAR, SAE, NEC, etc.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve common goals.
- Highly adaptable and proactive, excelling in fast-paced start-up and new model launch environments.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have the ability to travel (up to 50%).
- Must have the ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
- Must have the ability to stand, walk, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
