Accenture Federal Services is seeking a Design Quality Engineer for an up-conversion team on a modernization program for a major aerospace & defense manufacturer. This role is the quality gate across both disciplines, reviewing each converted model, mechanical (Creo) and electrical or harness (Zuken E3), against its source drawing, confirming it is complete and semantically equivalent, and producing the validation and deviation report that supports release into the client's PLM system.
The work:
- Run each model through the program's structured validation checks. On the mechanical side that covers areas such as model integrity and automated model-check results, tolerancing, notes and markings, annotations and their semantic references, section views, completeness, the 3D PDF, drawing linkage, and release readiness.
- On the electrical side, check the wiring and harness definitions: connectors, connectivity and signals, splices and shields, device-tree structure and part-number attribution, and BOM match.
- Compare each model against its source 2D drawing or equivalent, for example with overlays, and confirm the dimensions, tolerances, and content agree.
- Confirm CAD BOM to PLM EBOM alignment, correct revisions and attributes, the governing part-to-CAD link, and that visualizations and derivative files are current for release.
- Write up the validation and deviation report on the program's standard template, capturing what was used to build the model, the overlays, the analyses, and any deviations with their corrective actions.
- Coordinate the report review with the client's design, manufacturing, and quality leads, and confirm that any form, fit, or function deviations are resolved.
Here's what you need:
- 5+ years in CAD quality or model checking, MBD validation, or design-quality engineering.
- Strong GD&T and model-based inspection skills (ASME Y14.5 and Y14.41).
- Ability to read and validate Creo MBD models and/or Zuken E3.series wiring and harness definitions against source drawings. Depth in one discipline with working familiarity in the other is acceptable; cross-training is provided.
- Familiarity with PLM BOM structure, revisions, and configuration control, such as Windchill.
- Precise, checklist-driven documentation habits.
- U.S. Citizenship is required.
- Will consider remote candidates; Hybrid or local to San Antonio strongly desired.
Bonus points if you have:
- CMM or metrology experience, including QIF-to-CMM inspection data.
- Tools such as Capvidia MBDConnect and semantic-reference checking.
- Aerospace & defense quality, first-article inspection (FAI), or source-inspection background.
- Drawing-to-model overlay validation and deviation-report authoring.
- DoD Technical Data Package (TDP) familiarity.
