This position is a key function within Vulcan's Center of Excellence. The position will support Vulcan's organic growth strategies by helping drive technology development, product development, and customer back innovation for the Vulcan cooking products. As a key member of the engineering team, you will work as an individual contributor and team member to research and develop new cooking technology, develop new products, and provide best practices in design for commercial cooking equipment.

Self-motivated, you should be curious, inventive, and creative with a proven record of developing new products based on customer feedback and market insight.

Strong project management skills and an ability to work independently in both an office and lab environment are required. Equally important is the ability to collaborate with suppliers and internal resources to achieve product development milestones and growth targets.

Job Description

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Follow and execute ITW Enterprise Strategy, ITW Toolkit, Core Values, and Code of Conduct as a leader of the business.
  • Product design of cooking equipment including concept development, design validation, prototyping, agency approval, documentation release, and manufacturing product launch within a specified project timeline.
  • Manage technical design aspects of a project from inception through product launch.
  • Proof of concept and proof of application in a test lab environment.
  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve engineering design and quality issues.
  • Develop engineering product documentation, i.e. bill of materials, drawings, and specifications.
  • Pioneer new cooking technologies to further strengthen Vulcan's position as an innovator within the food service equipment industry.
  • Coordinate development efforts with suppliers and in-house personnel to minimize time­ to-market while ensuring that New Product Development Stage Gate milestones are completed.
  • Assist in code compliance activities for new and existing products including CSA, UL, NSF, Energy Star, and state level submissions.
  • As requested, work with and support other ITW Food Equipment Group operations to develop and improve new cooking technologies.

Qualifications

Education;

Bachelor of Science Mechanical Engineering required. Master of Science preferred.

Experience:

1O+ years engineering experience in a food service, commercial, or industrial equipment manufacturing environment with hands-on new product development experience required.

Skills / Ability:

  • Professional presence, trustworthy, and independent.
  • Proven experience designing new products for food service equipment, commercial, industrial, or related equipment.
  • Deep knowledge of 3D modeling and various manufacturing processes including metal forming, machining, assembly, and material flow.
  • Applicable computer skills using Microsoft Suite.
  • Knowledge of agency requirements including UL, NSF/ANSI Standards.
  • Capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Routinely uses spreadsheets and other analytical tools to accelerate timelines and exceed expectations.
  • Acts with a sense of urgency to create a strong result orientated culture with a keen focus on achievement.
  • Team player that supports co-workers and other internal customers.
  • Thrives in an entrepreneurial environment where all employees make informed decisions with known risks understood and shared by all.

  • R&D Laboratory, Manufacturing, and In- Office Environment
  • Travel up to 10%
  • Lifting up to 50lbs
