ERG is seeking an experienced structural engineer to independently develop structural designs for renovations and upgrades to existing buildings at a federal site in Indian Head, Maryland.

 

This position will be hybrid at the federal site in Indian Head, MD, and will include interaction and support from ERG personnel at the federal site, as well as from ERG’s Chantilly and Arlington offices. Indian Head is approximately 30 miles from Washington, DC. Alternative work schedules may be considered.

Job Description:

  • Primarily requires development of requirements and technical review of design packages as well as occasional design work
  • Prepare design packages (including structural and/or civil engineering calculations, design drawings, specifications, and cost estimates) for renovation projects such as roof replacements, building reconfigurations, additions, or adjustments due to a change in facility use or utilities such as HVAC upgrades or electrical modifications
  • Conduct technical reviews of design packages created by others to assess compliance with applicable building codes, and regulations as well as end-user requirements
  • Provide technical input to proposal development for renovation projects
  • Support design process from concept through delivery of completed design package
  • Prepare technical memoranda/reports that summarize information, such as requirements or the basis of design
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with other stakeholders internal to, and external to, the design team (e.g., engineering department, manufacturing department)
  • Serve as a project manager and/or design manager on some assigned projects
  • Prepare fact sheets, structural analysis, investigative and observation reporting for facilities and facility components where areas of concern or identified
  • Complete facility design services and support the review of designs for compliance with code and energetic manufacturing processes to help our client realize state-of-the-art facilities through construction and commissioning

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or related field
  • A minimum of 8 years experience required, 10+ years is preferred
  • Professional Engineer License is preferred, but not required
  • At least 5 years of experience with designing structural components for industrial or commercial buildings
  • Experience working with AutoCAD and SolidWorks
  • Ability to prioritize, perform, and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Must currently hold or be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret-level security clearance; Must be a U.S. citizen as this position is not eligible for Limited Access Authorizations
