Drive the Future of Industrial Simulation as a Simulation Design Engineer

Are you passionate about helping industries transform with cutting edge simulation technology? Join us as a Simulation Design Engineer and step into a role where you design, model and innovate digital solutions that support operators, boost industrial performance and shape the factories of tomorrow.

You will work hands-on with simulation models, analytical tools and software functions that support primarily pulp, paper and energy, but also other process industries. Examples of daily tasks include generating new ideas, creating product specifications, developing models, participating in system tests and supporting customer training. Your work directly contributes to smarter, more connected and more sustainable production environments.

Your responsibilities
  • You will create and refine process models for advanced simulations for real processes used in operator training, system testing and predictive support.

  • You will program analytical functions and contribute to digital twin development in our product development projects.

  • You will collaborate closely with teams across Valmet and engage with customers globally to ensure high value and accurate simulation solutions.
  • You will support the evolution of our simulation-based products used across pulp, paper, energy and other process industries.
  • You will occasionally travel to support project or customer needs.
What we expect from you
  • You have a Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or you bring equivalent professional experience.

  • You have experience or interest in programming, for example Python or similar languages.

  • You communicate confidently in English, both written and spoken.
  • You enjoy working in a collaborative and international environment.
Nice to Have
  • Experience or knowledge in modelling and simulation, control engineering, or similar areas.

  • Experience with Dymola or other modelling environments.

  • Background or interest in process industries such as pulp, paper, or energy.
  • Experience working with analytical models or digital twin solutions.
To succeed in this role

You will excel by combining strong analytical thinking with creativity and a drive to innovate in simulation and production-oriented technologies. Your ability to work collaboratively, structure your work and contribute ideas will be essential in developing advanced training simulators, digital twins and analytical tools. A genuine interest in industrial processes and modern simulation technologies is an important part of thriving in this fast-evolving domain.

We also expect you to align with Valmet’s Leadership Principles - practical behaviors that guide how we lead, collaborate, and succeed together:

  • Take accountability – Act with ownership, set clear expectations and follow through

  • Collaborate for growth – Work across boundaries, value diverse perspectives and focus on customer value
We offer

You will join a dynamic and forward-thinking team that works at the forefront of product development for training simulators and digital twins supporting operators and industrial processes in pulp, paper and energy sectors. Your work will be varied, meaningful and include extensive collaboration with teams and customers around the world.

Valmet provides an inspiring and international work environment where innovation and collaboration are central to everything we do. You will have opportunities for professional development, flexible working conditions and access to a range of local employee benefits that support wellbeing and long-term growth.
