What You’ll Do:
- Lead design efforts for proof-of-concept prototypes using SolidWorks
- Manage projects from concept through production, including design, BOMs, testing, and release
- Partner with Sales and customers to understand application needs and translate them into practical solutions
- Work closely with the shop floor to support manufacturing, assembly, troubleshoot issues, and refine designs for manufacturability
- Collaborate cross-departmentally to order parts, support light fabrication, and troubleshoot mechanical assemblies
- Evaluate designs for form, fit, function, cost, and reliability
- Collaborate cross-functionally to align design, manufacturing, and customer requirements
- Serve as a technical resource for internal teams and customers
- Support product testing, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
- 3+ years of design engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong 3D modeling skills (CAD design and modeling; SolidWorks preferred)
- Experience with ERP systems (items, BOMs, routings), desired
- Strong familiarity with sheet metal, tubing, welding, and hands-on experience with mechanical assemblies
- Ability to take initiative and manage projects in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills
