The Design Engineer – Mechanical will work as an individual contributor responsible for executing engineering and product development assignments with limited supervision. The role involves handling design, project coordination, and technical documentation while ensuring projects are delivered within schedule, budget, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute engineering and product/fixture development assignments for small or large projects independently
- Deliver project scope within defined budget, schedule, and quality standards
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams including production, electrical, R&D, purchase, and project teams
- Review and interpret customer technical specifications and industry codes
- Prepare Scope of Work (SoW), project charters, work breakdown structure (WBS), and project plans
- Monitor project progress and present status and progress reports
- Manage scope changes through proper change management processes
- Facilitate design reviews with internal teams and customers
- Review and finalize engineering documents including drawings, specifications, and reports
- Coordinate with vendors, contractors, inspection agencies, and internal teams
- Support manufacturing, fabrication, testing, installation, and commissioning activities
- Assist in technical proposals, engineering bids, and project management improvements
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
- Strong experience in 3D SolidWorks and mechanical design
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, hydraulics, and basic electrical/instrumentation systems
- Sound understanding of engineering practices, design calculations, and documentation
- Strong project planning, organizing, and project management skills
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and design documents
- Experience coordinating with multiple stakeholders and cross-functional teams
- Good communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of project management tools such as Primavera or MS Project will be an advantage
- Proficiency in MS Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Skills Required
