Job Description

The Design Director, Brand Expression will serve as the creative leader responsible for shaping and evolving the North American expression of the Gillette brand portfolio. This role represents a unique opportunity to elevate consumer experience, strengthen brand building, and drive business growth through design across one of Gillette's largest and most strategically important markets.

 

Working in close partnership with Global Design, the Design Director will translate global brand strategy and principles into compelling, consumer-relevant experiences across packaging, retail, innovation, and communication. The role requires a leader who can connect business strategy, consumer understanding, and design excellence to shape the future of the Gillette brand in North America.

This position will be based out of Boston, MA.

As the Design leader embedded within a multifunctional business team, you will:

  • Lead the visual identity, design strategy, and brand expression for North American Gillette initiatives across packaging, retail, communication, innovation, and digital touchpoints.
  • Serve as the steward of Gillette's North American brand expression, ensuring all design work strengthens the brand while operating within the established global identity framework.
  • Partner closely with Global Design to align regional initiatives with the broader Gillette brand vision while advocating for North American consumer, customer, and business needs.
  • Translate deep consumer understanding, cultural shifts, retailer realities, and grooming trends into meaningful design solutions that drive business growth.
  • Lead and inspire a network of external agency partners, including design firms, advertising agencies, retail design firms, shopper agencies, and digital partners.
  • Drive the design direction for regional innovation initiatives, retail programs, and go-to-market activations, ensuring excellence from concept through execution.
  • Facilitate design sprints, workshops, and cross-functional collaboration sessions to solve complex business and consumer challenges.
  • Champion exceptional design craftsmanship and raise the quality, effectiveness, and distinctiveness of all consumer-facing experiences.
  • Build strong collaborative relationships across Brand, R&D, Product Supply, Sales, and Global Design teams to ensure seamless execution and alignment.
  • Advocate for design as a strategic driver of brand equity, consumer delight, and business growth.

 

Job Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Design or related field.      
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience in a similar role.        
  • Demonstrated ability to lead design projects from concept to completion.        
  • Strong knowledge of design software and technologies (such as InDesign, Illustrator, Dreamweaver).        
  • A keen eye for aesthetics and details.        
  • Excellent communication skills.        
  • Ability to work methodically and meet deadlines.
