The Design Code & Project Engineer is responsible for ensuring that Sales Company Canada remains compliant with all CRN jurisdictional requirements, CSA B51, N299.3 as well as other applicable code requirements related to pressure vessels and competently executes/manages assigned project orders.
Duties of this role will include:
Review design calculation and drawings for all Alfa Laval pressure-retaining products intended to be installed in Canada, ensuring compliance with all relevant ASME codes, local jurisdictional requirements and federal and provincial regulations
Maintain necessary provincial Professional Engineer’s licenses, stamping design documents as required for regulatory compliance
Provide technical support to the Canadian sales team, and to the global sales team as required, regarding local Canadian requirements for pressurized equipment
Submit design documents to relevant jurisdictions and follow up with design surveyors to ensure acceptance
Maintain database of CRN documents.
Maintain professional business relationships with the personnel in the relevant provincial jurisdictions for CRN registration.
Take the ownership of assigned engineered project orders on receipt of a technically and commercially acceptable order from Sales. Ensure complete and accurate delivery of engineering documentation, equipment, and final manufacturer’s record books, on time, and within agreed budget.
Negotiate change order requests, in alignment/partnership for the responsible sales engineer for the order.
Perform final independent inspections for nuclear service jobs
Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION DESIRED
Education (degree or years) and/or Certification/Registration:
Bachelor’s Engineering Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent Engineering degree with sufficient experience/competence in the design of ASME Pressure Vessels.
Licensed Professional Engineer in Canada. If not already licensed in Ontario, must be eligible for Ontario Licensure. Licensure in Alberta is highly valued.
Membership or eligibility for membership in ASME would be beneficial.
Type and Length of Experience:
Minimum 5 years of post-education relevant experience.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Attributes Desired in Candidate:
Self-starter, initiates and manages their schedule
Effective problem-solver, detail oriented, service-minded and able to work independently.
Communication skills.
Ability to build relationships, with customers, colleagues, and in CRN jurisdictions in various roles.
Ability to be collaborative within the Alfa Laval local and global team
Experience and knowledge of the ASME Codes, in particular Sections VIII, I, III, V and IX.
Previous experience with Finite Element Analysis, Compress, MathCAD, and/or the CRN review and registration process are highly valued.
Knowledge of heat transfer products is a valued asset.
Excellent / fluent communication ability in English (Oral and Written) is a must. Ability to communicate in French (Oral and Written) is a welcome asset.
Compensation & Total Rewards
The salary range for this role is $85,000-110,000 CAD annually, based on experience and role alignment. In addition to base compensation, we offer a comprehensive benefits package and opportunities for growth and development.
Bonus Opportunity
This position is eligible for a target bonus of up to 10% of annual base salary depending on experience, awarded based on the achievement of company performance metrics. Actual bonus amounts are contingent on annual business results and may vary accordingly.
