Job Description Summary
We are seeking a Pune, India based OTC Cash Reconciliation Analyst to join our Derivative Operations department in Global Technology & Operations.
Team/Group Description
The Derivative Operations Department is responsible for the operational support front to back for OTC derivative instruments used across each of the Strategic Business Units globally. The group will perform middle office, valuation, collateral management, confirmation, reconciliation and settlement of this complex asset class in a team based fast paced atmosphere with opportunities to work closely with others throughout the group.
Role Description
The reconciliation analyst is responsible for the control of derivative trade exposure between our counterparties, custodians and ourselves. They will liaise with both internal and external contacts and escalate to management where appropriate. The reconciliation team works independently from the Front Office and is key to the control of the business, ensuring the highest level of quality is achieved at all times. The candidate is responsible for the reconciliation of day-to-day settlement of payments and receipts related to both standard and complex OTC Derivative activity across Rates, Credit, Equity and FX. Process knowledge and organizational skills are critical for success in this role, as well as a pro-active approach to the position as daily interaction with Front Office personnel and counterparty contacts is expected.
This position will report to the manager of the OTC Cash Reconciliation within the Derivative Operations & Technology Department at Pune. In this role one should be familiar with various OTC derivative products, relevant cash reconciliation exposure in their current role, proficient with PC skills and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
Key job responsibilities include, but are not limited to
Responsibilities will include:
- Provide operational support for the Rates, Credit, Equity and FX businesses globally
- Accurate & timely management of workflows
- Acting as a primary support contact to ensure all front office and counterparty requests are handled with satisfaction.
- Liaising with front office, middle office, credit, documentation, and settlements teams to resolve client trade breaks.
- Assist with projects related to improving current processes to raise productivity and efficiency.
- Participate in the strategic middle office working group responsible for designing, building and implementing our future middle office model
- Identify Control weaknesses in everyday processes; develop & implement procedures that mitigate associated risks.
- Reconciliation of trades between front and back-end trading systems
- Responsible for the reasonable determination of applicable course of action for resolving discrepancies
- Responsible for escalating issues to management, trading, etc. as necessary
- Understand how the data flows from upstream to downstream applications and how it impacts our research and accordingly channelize our resolution strategies.
- Understand how each team are related to one another by identifying which teams are responsible for a particular break and finding possible data/evidence (such as SSI instructions, aged mail correspondence and so on) that may help in resolving the break.
- Collaborate with technology and operations teams to develop and implement system enhancements.
Job Qualifications
Preferred 1-3 years’ experience supporting middle office or collateral operations related to OTC and/or Listed Derivatives on the sell-side or buy-side is preferred, but not required.
Candidates should have a strong ability to work in a collaborative environment and to present results to both expert and non-expert audiences.
Qualifications, Experience, Education
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. MBA is a plus.
- Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in derivatives reconciliation, settlement or collateral operations at a bank or asset management firm
- Strong understanding of OTC and exchange-traded derivatives products, including futures, options, swaps, and forwards
- Proficiency in reconciliation tools and derivative systems, such as Clareti Transaction Control (CTC), TriResolve, and Calypso
- Proficiency in reconciliation tools and systems, such as Excel, VBA, Calypso, PMS and adaptable to new internal applications
- Experience with Microsoft Office is required. Any experience with VBA, Macros, or advanced Excel formulas is a plus
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adaptable to change.
