Vast is looking for a Demand Planner, reporting to the Manager of Demand Planning, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations.
This will be a full-time, exempt position located in our Long Beach location.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee demand, supply, and fulfillment planning.
- Foster strong collaboration with internal stakeholders, including Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, Finance, Manufacturing, and Mission Management, to align planning processes with business objectives.
- Develop and implement key performance metrics to effectively track actions, identify risks, and highlight opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure accuracy and maintenance of Bills of Materials (BOMs), part records, and master data, supporting streamlined procurement and production processes.
- Establish and leverage commodity and part lead times to enhance the design release process and minimize supply chain disruptions.
- Drive timely release of procurement planning messages to enable efficient purchasing and supplier coordination.
- Ensure on-time issuance of work orders to production, supporting seamless manufacturing operations.
- Serve as a key resource in Clear-to-Build meetings, providing accurate material availability insights to cross-functional teams.
- Update demand forecasts in response to engineering change orders (ECOs), ensuring clear communication of adjustments to all relevant stakeholders.
- Enhance visibility of material status through comprehensive reporting, including Line of Balance (LOB), material shortage, and Clear-to-Build reports.
- Collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team environment, demonstrating teamwork and alignment with company-wide goals.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Business Analytics, Mathematics, or Engineering discipline.
- 2+ years experience with Demand Planning in a Manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in Excel and other data visualization tools.
- Experience leading scheduling discussions with multiple stakeholders and customers.
- Ability to make independent judgments with limited information.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Significant experience working with BOMs and understands how they integrate with overall systems (ERP/MRP/PLM/MES).
- Prior experience in aerospace, EV automotive, or other disruptive manufacturing industries.
- Comfortable working in a high-stress environment balancing several projects at any given time, and the flexibility to adjust for abrupt changes in strategic direction.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience with AS9100, US export controls.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize effectively and efficiently.
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
- Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to support critical mission milestones.
Pay Range:
- Demand Planner II: $73,000-$106,000
- Senior Demand Planner: $96,000 - $136,000
