At Vast, our mission is to contribute to a future where billions of people are living and thriving in space. Vast is developing next-generation space stations to ensure a continuous human presence in space for America and its allies, enabling advanced microgravity research and manufacturing, and unlocking a new space economy for government, corporate, and private customers. Using an incremental, hardware-rich and low-cost approach, Vast is rapidly developing its multi-module Haven Station. Haven Demo’s 2025 success made Vast the only operational commercial space station company to fly and operate its own spacecraft. Next, Haven-1 is expected to become the world’s first commercial space station when it launches, followed by additional Haven modules to enable permanent human presence by 2030. Our team is all-in, committed to executing our mission safely and on time. If you want to work with the most talented people on Earth furthering space exploration for humanity, come join us.

Vast is looking for a Demand Planner, reporting to the Manager of Demand Planning, to support the development of the systems that will be required for the design and build of artificial-gravity human-rated space stations.

This will be a full-timeexempt position located in our Long Beach location.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee demand, supply, and fulfillment planning for avionics and electronic hardware, including EEE components, PCBs, PCBAs, and related commodities.
  • Foster strong collaboration with internal stakeholders—Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, Finance, Manufacturing, and Mission Management—to align planning processes with business objectives and technical requirements.
  • Develop and implement key performance metrics (KPIs) to effectively track material actions, identify risks, and highlight opportunities for improvement across electronic component lifecycles.
  • Ensure accuracy and maintenance of Bills of Materials (BOMs), part records, and master data, particularly for EEE components, circuit boards, assemblies, and other Avionics products to support streamlined procurement and production.
  • Establish and leverage commodity lead times and part availability data to enhance design release processes and minimize supply chain disruptions across critical avionics hardware.
  • Drive timely release of procurement planning messages and ensure efficient coordination with suppliers for long-lead components.
  • Ensure on-time issuance of work orders to production and purchase orders to procurement, supporting seamless manufacturing and supply chain operations.
  • Serve as a key resource in Clear-to-Build and Material Readiness meetings, providing accurate material availability insights and resolving electronic component constraints.
  • Update demand forecasts and supply plans in response to engineering change orders (ECOs), ensuring clear communication of revisions to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Enhance visibility of material readiness and component obsolescence risks through comprehensive reporting, including Line of Balance (LOB), shortage reports, and Clear-to-Build dashboards.
  • Collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team environment, demonstrating technical acumen in electronic hardware planning and strong alignment with company-wide goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, operations management, or another relevant field (or 4 years of relevant experience)
  • 2+ years experience with Demand Planning in a Manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in Excel and other data visualization tools.
  • Experience leading scheduling discussions with multiple stakeholders and customers.
  • Ability to make independent judgments with limited information.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Significant experience working with BOMs and understanding their integration across ERP/MRP/PLM/MES systems.
  • Prior experience in aerospace, avionics, high-reliability electronics, or EV manufacturing industries.
  • Familiarity with EEE (Electrical, Electronic, and Electromechanical) component lifecycle management, including obsolescence tracking, part alternates, and qualification requirements.
  • Knowledge of PCB and PCBA manufacturing processes and traceability standards.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics related to electronic assemblies.
  • Experience with AS9100 quality management systems and U.S. export control (ITAR/EAR) compliance.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize effectively and balance multiple complex projects.
  • Comfortable working in a high-stress environment and adjusting quickly to evolving strategic priorities.

Additional Requirements:

  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time.
  • Willingness to work evenings and/or weekends to support critical mission milestones.
