The Role

Summary:

The Default Reporting Analyst will be responsible for providing support to the Freedom Servicing group. Duties will include the management & knowledge of multiple daily, weekly, and monthly reporting to assigned investor/insurers (FHA, VA, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, USDA, or Private Mortgage Insurance Companies) through various methods of communication. The Default Reporting Analyst II will be responsible for managing changes to the assigned investor/insurer reporting guidelines. Review all exceptions and partner with default business units to clear exceptions and ensure accurate reporting. The Default Reporting Analyst II will also identify and escalate process improvement opportunities to eliminate manual intervention and extensive loan level reviews.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Capable to perform Default Reporting functions for multiple investor/insurer portfolios.

  • Responsible for managing timely and accurate reporting for accounts that are in default to the assigned investor/insurer.

  • Primary assigned Analyst to retrieve, save and convert daily reports for the team.

  • Actively engage with all default areas (ie, Loss Mitigation, Bankruptcy, Foreclosure, Collections, REO, Claims.,) to ensure a smooth process and accuracy of information reported to their assigned investor/insurer.

  • Monitor and analyze routine reports to identify servicing gaps or opportunities for improvement.

  • Accountable for understanding, reviewing, and clearing Agency exception reports within required timeframes.

  • Perform loan level review and research as necessary.

  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with directives, both verbal and electronic, from regulatory agencies, CFPB, GSE’s, investors and insurers for Default Services functional work groups.

  • Establish and foster a work culture at all levels within the operation, which is positive, collaborative, respectful, optimistic, and capable of driving long term operational sustainability.

  • Serve as primary point of contact to internal and external parties for escalations related to one or more business functions in pre/post foreclosure areas to minimize reputational impact to Freedom Mortgage and ensure optimal resolution for business unit.

  • Work with management to develop and implement new or revised processes and guidelines and realize process efficiencies and potential gaps created within Default Reporting department.

  • Responsible for reviewing and clearing exception reports from assigned investors/insurers.

  • Collaborate with management to provide feedback about problem areas and any conditions that may adversely affect established company goals.

  • Extended knowledge of a backup portfolio, in preparation for absences.

  • Perform and assist Senior Default Reporting Analyst in conducting testing as related to new initiatives, code crosses and enhancements.

  • Cross train other team members as needed.

  • Accountable for performing all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures and state and federal laws.

  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.

  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Strong skills in Excel (VLOOKUP’s & Excel formulas).

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • Self-directed ability to work independently, prioritize, and multi-task to maintain established standards and consistently meet deadlines.

  • Ability to interpret investor/Insurer guidelines as required.

  • Must be a team player with strong attention to detail.

  • Experience with FHA, VA, USDA, or conventional loan types.

  • Fast learner, able to embrace new ideas and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong aptitude for strategic critical thinking and problem resolution; assessing, understanding, and quantifying risk.

Education and/or Experience:

  • BA Degree preferred.

  • Three years Mortgage Servicing experience in the Default arena.

May require familiarity with the financial/mortgage (or job-specific) industry. Problems require understanding of other job areas. Problems are typically solved through drawing from prior experiences, with analysis of the issue.
