Job Summary

The Dealing Analyst plays a central role in supporting the Dealing Desk function, with responsibility for trade execution, client interaction, and onboarding coordination. The role involves assisting in the execution and processing of client trades, responding to trade-related queries, and guiding clients on the use of trading platforms and dealing processes. In addition, the Dealing Analyst supports the end-to-end onboarding of clients, ensuring all regulatory and compliance requirements are met and that client accounts are set up efficiently and accurately. The incumbent is responsible for delivering timely and precise execution support, maintaining strong client relationships, and upholding the highest standards of professionalism, operational integrity, and regulatory compliance.

  • Execute and process client trades in line with instructions, while responding to trade-related queries and providing market-facing support where required.
  • Manage and coordinate client onboarding, including documentation review, account setup, and platform enablement, ensuring a seamless client experience.
  • Act as a key point of contact between the Dealing Desk, Relationship Managers, and internal teams to ensure efficient trade flow and operational alignment.
  • Monitor trading activity to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Identify and escalate complex trading or operational issues to the Dealing Desk Manager in a timely manner.
  • Provide regular market, trading, and operational updates to the Dealing Desk Manager, highlighting key issues and opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of client interactions, trade instructions, and executed transactions in line with internal and regulatory standards.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across dealing and onboarding processes to enhance execution efficiency and overall client experience.

Mandatory Risk and Control Objective

  • Accountable and responsible for complying with the Bank’s internal controls as set out in applicable procedures, Absa policies and standards, local regulations and as per the Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework to ensure that no actions on your part leads to a control failure.
  • Embedding and fostering a control culture by ensuring the highest control standards are applied at all times.
Role/Person SpecificationPreferred Experience:
  • 1–3 years of experience in a dealing, trading, or execution role within financial services, brokerage, or capital markets environments.
  • Practical exposure to trading platforms, order management systems, and trade lifecycle processes.
  • Experience in a client-facing or front-office environment, with responsibility for handling trade-related queries and supporting execution.
Knowledge & Skills:
  • Familiarity with online trading platforms and a sound understanding of financial markets and trading concepts.
  • Working knowledge of financial regulations and compliance frameworks applicable to trading and execution activities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and French; additional languages are advantageous.
  • Client-focused approach with the ability to manage trade-related queries professionally, accurately, and efficiently.
  • Strong problem-solving ability with the capacity to perform effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with clients, dealing counterparts, and internal stakeholders.
Technical Competencies:
  • Strong working knowledge of electronic trading platforms and client execution interfaces used in dealing environments.
  • Ability to execute and manage client orders efficiently, including handling complex order types and ensuring accurate trade processing.
  • Solid understanding of order types, execution methodologies, and core market microstructure and terminology.
  • Good understanding of end-to-end trade lifecycle processes, including execution, confirmation, allocation, and settlement.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel for trade reporting, data analysis, and operational record-keeping, along with strong command of standard office productivity tools.

  • Collaboration: Works effectively with the dealing desk, relationship managers, and internal stakeholders to ensure seamless execution and client outcomes.

  • Proactive Mindset: Anticipates execution risks, client requirements, and operational issues, taking initiative to address them promptly.
